Mixing careless, negligent and reckless drivers with anyone is deadly:

Kaur, 26, was hit while riding her bike on Burnhamthorpe Road, near Kipling Avenue, at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 24. She was reportedly riding with her husband and another person when she was struck by a 28-year-old driver, who stayed at the scene. He was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm or death.

And attitudes like yours are more telling of why cyclists will continue to be doored, hit, broken, maimed and killed by drivers.

by building bike lanes on busy city streets you are inviting cyclists to ride in heavy traffic, that is irresponsible

there are careless car drivers as well as careless bicycle riders but when a bike and a car collide the car always wins

I am sure that there could be a lot of side streets where bike lanes would be much safer

and that would unclog our major streets for cars only and that would be much safer for everybody

even for virtue signaling lefties

The woman in the article you linked was not killed on a bike lane road which you claim above is just inviting cyclists to ride in heavy traffic.

She was killed not because of being in a bike lane, not because of her carelessness, but because of a CARELESS CAR DRIVER.

Vehicle drivers drive on a "shared use roadway" not a "limited access highway". They must share the fuckin road. They must pay attention, be fully cognizant, not be distracted, careless, negligent nor reckless when driving at all fuckin times!

easy there old timer, having some anger issues

that's the problem with you lefties, you always try to make other people adjust to you

I hope that it's your anger and not some other mental condition that is responsible for your misunderstanding of the article

the woman in the article was the sixths victim of car and bike accident

I don't think all six were caused by careless driver

in fact I think there are more than 15 deadly bicycle deaths in the city

from the article that your anger made you miss

" the city sees an alarming spike cyclist deaths. "

it wasn't just this one accident

I've driven in areas around the GTA that have bike paths raised and away from the roadways. Guess what. The entitled cyclists still ride on the roads.

Plus a lot of them ignore stop signs and traffic lights, and go right through intersections
One problem is that very few riders on scooters, bikes, etc. don't know the rules that apply to them. Also, I am not too concerned about cyclists not stopping at stop signs as many vehicle drivers don't either. I think stop signs should be changed to yield signs instead.

what alternatives? there are none!

one of the worst examples is Bloor St West

it was a two lane road that could easily take you downtown from the west end

it was Tory who build stupid bike lanes around High Park area and now Chow finished it with more bike lanes all the way to Islington

turning Bloor street into one lane parking lot

what took 5 to 10 minutes before now takes up to an hour of commuting

all done to benefit very few, there is hardly anybody using those bike lanes

you can see hundreds of cars struggling to get by and nobody using the bike lanes or just a few at best

pollution must be through the roof now compare to how it used to be because of hundreds if not thousands of cars just idling and getting nowhere

all businesses along the way are suffering too because delivery trucks have nowhere to park

also emergency vehicles are having a hell of a time trying to navigate this insanity
It is the same thing on Danforth Avenue which is now a single lane road from Broadview to Markham Road replaced by street parking for vehicles and bicycle lanes causing delays at intersections where vehicles are making left turns and having to wait as you can't go around them.

stupid idea

there are about 2 million cars in Toronto and maybe a couple of thousand bicycles riders

and you can only ride your bike 6 months a year because of Canadian climate

so bike lanes paralyze the city traffic for millions so a few wokes can go for a bike ride

bike lanes are like cholesterol clogging your major arteries

soon the city will have a heart attack

The government of Ontario tries to educate the uneducated about sharing the road with other lawful users of the road. Hopefully this helps you.

I drive and I also bike and I bike in the winter as well.
So me cycling is one less car on the road.
The arguments from those who only drive and don't bike are ludicrous.
Like bikes should only be for parks. Hello, bikes are for commuting.
Entitled drivers also block bike lanes.
There are bad drivers and there are bad cyclists. No argument there.
Is anyone really advocating for a car free city?
Bottom line is a city needs both.

There are no bike lanes or bikes riding on Lakeshore and guess what. It's one of the most congested anywhere.
I don't see any bike lanes or bikes on the Don Valley parking lot either.

how cute is that, a Handbook.

if you are all about sharing I'm sure you will want to share some of the costs associated with road maintenance

Ontario drivers pay hundreds of millions of dollars in gas taxes to keep the roads in good condition

since bike lanes take half of the road away, I'm sure you and your biking pals would like to contribute, you know, in the spirit of sharing

also drivers have to have a drivers license to show they understand rules of the road, since cyclists are sharing the road with cars now

they should have some kind of drivers license to show that they know how to obey traffic signs

also drivers need insurance, bikers should need one too so the odd time when the accident is bikers fault we could sue your ass for damages

and a license plate so it's easy to identify you

all in the spirit of sharing sweetie
