I don't think Toronto fans are getting "crazy" over one win. Rather, it is the way that they are doing it against a, ahem, much more experienced team who finished well ahead of them in the standings. What is wrong with fans being overzealous for a team as beloved in this city as the Toronto Maple Leafs. Three games going into overtime and the Leafs come out on top in two of them. The excitement that this team is bringing to Toronto is unrivalled in the hockey world. Many years of pain and agony are now replaced with optimism and renewed hope.

The management team from the top down are doings things right (trading away Kessel and Phaneuf and their huge contracts was the beginning of the goods things that are now happening) and I have to think they are amazed how 2016/2017 went and how much the rookies have progressed/matured in one year with the big team. Remember the Leafs finished dead last last year and are currently in a "re-building" phase. This years success in making the playoffs was, on the most part, totally unexpected.

Toronto has the Raptors, Blue Jays and TFC but the Leafs are now in their rightful place on centre stage during this playoff season. In my lifetime, hockey has never been more exciting in this city as it is today.

Toronto is only seem to be the only city in North America to have Sports fans to get crazy over one playoff win. I know that Toronto had been waiting since 1993 for a Championship sport team.
Enjoy this short Playoff run Leafs fans LOL
Wrongo Bubba, the Leafs were closer to getting to the Stanley Cup Final in 2001, they were a spent force when they played the Kings in 93.

Don Cherry can eat shit and die, I'm still pissed. And, yes I would say that to his face.

His hatred of Russians tainted his attack on Zeitsev. He conveniently left out that Nikita was coming off a concussion and was an obvious target for Caps forwards. But he really went over the line when he questioned the wisdom of the 7 year contract Nikita is getting. For that he's going to answer to Lou. Our GM is a stickler for image and conduct but he's also very loyal to his players. Cherry is a bully, Lou is a legit tough guy. Should he get called into Lou's office it won't be pleasant for Cherry.

New Leafs rally song....pounding the Caps with a big Polish ham.

Maybe you should venture outside of your parents basement once in a while, then you would realize that other cities around the world do the same thing over their sports teams, especially come playoff time. Just because you only see this from the Toronto media outlets perspective, doesn't mean it's endemic to this city alone. The playoffs being what they are, do bring out more of the casual fans, who know that this is the second season and that every game has more meaning. This is also true of every sport, not just hockey.

This is a day we should be talking about the young Leafs' playoff success and not feeding the troll.

It's particularly gratifying for me to see how good Kadri's been playing and his development into a complete player. There were many Kadri doubters and haters and I'm really happy to see that his maturity has finally brought out the best in him.

Babcock gave both Kadri and Gardiner specific roles within the framework of the team, it's paid dividends.

In 2001, Sundin had Alex Mogilny as his linemate. They swept the Senators in 4 in the Quarterfinals. They played Lou's Devils in the Semis, they were the defending Cup Champions. The Leafs led the series 3-2 when Domi went meathead on Scott Niedermeier. Domi got a match penalty but Niedermeier returned for the third period. The Devils found their second wind and won Game 6, then outworked the Leafs to win Game 7.

kyle, have you ever seen Godzilla vs Bambi?

It has been wonderful to watch the maturation (check spelling) of the young ones from game one to now. I still believe that Mathews, Nylander, Marner, Brown, Kapian(sp) and Carrick have upside.

i beg to differ von. cherry is pointing out that a 7 year deal worth that much money to a player of zeitsevs level, is way out of whack. he was a minus player all year, not just last nite when he came back.

I checked the stats bullitt and you have a point. Zeitsev had a -22 + - rating, Morgan Reilly also had a -20 rating. Obviously they were not a good fit playing as a duo. However they both had 30 + assists. Obviously The Regime is banking on upside, the game he had against Team North America can't be a one off.

I can't stand Don Cherry, there I said it. I've hated him ever since he hit Ron McLean on the head with the plastic elbow pad, I've been trashing him ever since. Not to mention the endless abuse McLean has taken, or parading a visibly impaired Bob Probert out on Grapevine. Hockey cannot become a major global sport with this sadistic bully as it's face. He needs to be shitcaned pronto.

If +- was all Cherry is basing a contract on then he should be bashing Rielly as well. But Rielly is a Canadian. Cherry is a hyprocrite.

Too many people feeding the troll. No matter what you say he will continue spewing the same trash. Please do not respond to his drivel. Even though this is the sports forum, maurice had it right trying to talk about an MPA instead.

Better that we talk among ourselves. We usually have more relevant things to talk about.
Sort of like all your posts.

Yeah. I know. But at least it wasn't one of his typical "shit all aver the Leafs no matter what" posts. I figure if he's talking about something else there is some leeway.

Regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, if it goes into overtime again, the Caps will lose this series.

Zaitsev logged in 21 minutes of ice time in G 3. Coming back from a concussion that's more than what Babs could ask for and he was solid after a shaky 1st period.

What Don Cherry deserves (click at your own risk).
