Polak will have a hearing with the NHL regarding his cheap hit in tonight's game, expect a suspension of a few games. Decision could come as early as tomorrow as the Leafs play NJ tomorrow night.

The patience the Shany Regime has shown in Kadri is paying off. Prior to this year he didn't have a role on the team, Babcock said he wanted him to be the best two-way centerman he could be, Kadri has delivered. Since the All Star game, Nylander ranks No.1 among rookie scoring.

If you had told me at the begging of the year that this team would be in the playoff hunt I would have said that you have no concept of reality.

In other news.

Bob McKenzie stepped into Howard Stern's The Wrap Up Show as Toronto Bo Bo. Rashaan has laryngitis, McEnzie came in to guest host alongside John Hein and Ba Ba Booooey, and he did a marvelous job. Didn't know he was a Stern fan, this puts him in a whole new light.

The best case scenario for the Maple Leafs; he gets 10 games, plus the playoffs (he won't).
I'm guessing 2 games.

This post could lead one to believe you "MAY" not be a Polak fan!

My guess is 1-4 games, like you, I don't see it as much of a loss for the Leafs.

I think he's a tough, hardnosed player, but today's NHL game has passed him by.
He's slow, poor defensively, prone to giveaways.

Leafs pull off big win over Columbus. What a shot from Nylander for the game winner. As someone already said, most points from a rookie since around New Years.
Personally I did not think Polak should have got five(or was it seven ? lol ;) ).
I do not recall anyone(besides me) getting upset when Marner got nailed from behind.
Anyway nice win by Leafs, must follow up with another win over New Jersey.

GO LEAFS GO !

You're okay with players crosschecking other players from behind, into the boards?
Polak hit him square in the numbers......that's become a habit for Roman, he's finally going to pay for.

That was a dirty, ugly play.

Fehr made his Leaf debut last night but left the rink with his arm in a cast, probably done for the year.

Babcock seems to have a much different opinion on Polak as he's played him very significant minutes. He's averaged close to 20 minutes per game over the last 5 games until he was kicked out.

I like Polak and I think Babcock like him for his physical play. Hence the minutes he's getting. Let's face it, besides not having a number 1 defenseman, the Leafs are soft on the back-end too.

I only saw the hit briefly on the highlights. While I don't like dirty plays, I also don't like players who turn at the last second, putting themselves into a dangerous position. Did the guy turn at all? Was he trying to curl back, at the wrong time? I guess we'll know better when the league metes out its punishment, as they will give it a good look.

The punishment had already been meted out when you posted (2 games), as noted above in Post 493.
Also, your question regarding the hit, you may find the answer in the video above, in Post 490.
