If it's not a christian country (and just because a majority of the citizens are christians doesn't mean state institutions should promote christianity), then why would we approve of anyone giving christian character to state institutions?
Imagine we were in a country with mostly muslims in it, and every single court of law had muslimi symbols in it, like the moon/star or the "bismillah" prayer. WHile these are nice religious symbols, I don't think anyone would say that the mosque had not encroached on the state and that the state had a muslim character. It's just not controversial at all.
Ahem, Christmas trees are Christian, no matter who keeps them in their homes. Mao, Hanukah bushes might as well be Christian or Christian wannabees. You won't find many Jews that have these.
I don't care if you want to say Merry Christmas to me, that's fine. Just don't be offended when I don't say it back (although half the time I do anyway so I can avoid conversations with people who don't understand what it means to NOT be a secular christian).
Why do people have such a hard time understanding the difference between the State and the private sphere? Why do you need a farking christmas tree in a courthouse?
If we were in a majority muslam country then we would have f*ck all just like every other one of them does. They only have money because of the oil in the ground. Hopefully one day we can find a way around the oil question then those stone age beings can rot in the desert and eat sand for all I care.
