Speaking of myopic, you do realize that provincial funding for Toronto is still going up, even with this cut?
Is that money already earmarked for something specific. If it is then its unavailable. If its general cffers fine. So how much more are we getting exactly? And how much of it is earmarked?

But Ford gave us the weekly weigh-in and the weight loss challenge to other mayors! That was......umm...entertaining?
I never said Ford doesn't do dumb things. Every Mayor has done dumb things whether you like them or not.

One of Ford's radio show callers is identified as friend and staffer... calls in to his radio show under alias.
Gotta wonder how many staffers are on terb.
Still this is par for the course for people who still decide to support this bumblefuck.

Honestly it's not right or left, only the far right wants it to be that way... it's 'Looking over at Calgary and weeping at the awesomeness of their Mayor'
That people support such an obvious piece of shit serves to grind us all to a halt.

In any case every penny comes from the same pocket, so this all boils down to the equivalent of a squabble between middle managers where one is running a department that's in deficit, and the other is demanding she be dinged for the cost of what he wants to do in his.

No matter who you like, the bottom line is the same: The province hasn't yet gotten back into the black, and Ford is now claiming he needs more provincial money to keep his budget looking good, because there wasn't any significant gravy after all. Too bad he gave away the vehicle transfer tax. Sousa's right, and ironically, he's reading from the Mike Harris Hymnal: If Toronto needs more money, let Toronto raise Toronto Taxes.

I can see how this latest "scandal" involving Ford could give you an anxiety attack. How long before Paul Magder asks Clayton Ruby to find a way to bring down the Mayor over these extremely serious allegations. You're best is to move to Calgary gargravarrh, where you can join CERB and sing the praises of their Mayor all day long. It may also help lower your blood pressure.

If the Liberals hadn't wasted Billions of dollars on moving the gas plants, Ornge and eHealth this would be a non issue. I get it, punish Toronto for Liberal scandals, waste and mismanagement.

I think you can add Toronto voting no to the new "revenue tools" for transit supported by the province to your list.

I'm joining this debate way too late, but just like to say I love the cost cutting agenda and what he's trying to do, but i don't think Ford is the best person to implement it. I know he represents the every man, but there's way too many self inflicted wounds here. He's needs to go about his agenda in a more tactful manner and work on his PR.

Was there gravy at city hall, Yes! Was it so much that it would make a huge dent in the books? No! But i'm much happier making at least some progress rather than none at all. Was there huge budget savings? No, but i'm much more happy with costs staying the same rather than going up (which has happened every year in Toronto)
And Yes, SOME publications were out to get Rob Ford from the get go but he didn't help himself at all and if he wasn't such a boorish polarizing figure he could have gotten more done and cut further.

Fine.....but this also means that cuts can be made too. It was going to be phased out in two years anyway. I say sell unused housing now to make up as much of the shortfall as possible. Not only do we get the immediate money but the extra future property taxes as well.....that would be a logical "revenue tool" as well. Without reducing our present commitment.

Wynn is seizing a golden opportunity. Ford's notoriety/infamy is at it's height with true or untrue scandals swirling she is attaching herself to his name and kicking a horse everyone loves to kick. On one hand she is taking funding away from the city of Toronto and their beloved social programs, but to the liberal faithful and NDP like downtown she is attacking Ford which is a good thing! Secondly she is taking funding away a special privilege away from Toronto, and spinning it as making it fair for all municipalities which rural Ontario loves as they feel ignored by the Liberals and their Toronto base.
And lastly and maybe least important, she is saving money for the province. This is a no lose situation for her.

So you're giving the good ol "If you don't like it, get the fuck out"
Typically shit thinking.
I love it here, but could make it even better by getting rid of our characiture of a mayor.

I'm trying to see how about a week and a half would make a difference to the announcement. It wasn't going to be a consultation. They were going to do it. That is cut 150 million dollsrs to social housing. Where is the outcry against the Provincial govt? None so far. Where is OPAP marching on Queens Park? How can anyone blame the Mayor for a funding decision by the Liberals?

Seriously.....so Myopic.....
Put on your glasses and note overall funding from the province is going up. Would Rob have Wynne RAISE TAXES on all Ontarians just to fund Toronto and let Ford keep pretending he is the anti taxman? He wants Wynne to raise taxes or cut off other cities funding, so he doesn't have to deal with the fiscal reality he has created. What an idiot.

Furthermore he likes to bite the hand that feeds him by slagging the libs and then hypocritically begging for a handout.

The majority of people in downtown Toronto don't care about the non-existent video either.

(Been 40 days since the Toronto Star story)
I'm not downtown and I don't need a video to prove Ford is an idiot! He proves it every time he opens his yap.

"A longtime Ford family friend was “Dave” who repeatedly made supportive calls to Mayor Rob Ford’s weekly Newstalk 1010 radio show, CBC reports.
David Price called The City, hosted by the mayor and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, at least a half-dozen times, CBC said, before Ford hired Price in early April as his director of operations and logistics."

Ahaha, for a guy who refuses to attend the Pride parade Ford sure loves males sucking his cock.

There would be hell to pay had the Harper government made the cut...

Funny thing is, a year or so ago Tommy-Boy refused a $300,000 hand-out from the Feds to help poor kids. The usual suspects were all over him screaming for Ford to save the poor folk and get his fair share of some Federal pie. Now that the Wynn government is taking $150 million of provincial pie away from the poor folks, the usual suspects are trying to turn this into a "Ford Fucked Up" issue.

I get the feeling had Ford not been the mayor and the Liberals pulled this move, the entire city and all Toronto media would be all over the Liberals for this act.

As much as the media and the lefties hate Ford, don't let that way of thinking cloud your judgement in reference to supporting what is best for the city.

The Liberal government is spending the province into a big deep hole - In under a decade we are now throwing away 5 billion a year on extra debt charges. That's a lot of money being spent due to ten years of bad decisions and poor fiscal management.

Feelings of Ford aside, shame on you Toronto for letting the Liberals screw you over!
