You and your friends keep talking about the cost of certain programs you don't like. You should be looking at the costs of not doing them. Just because you don't spend the $59B or whatever does not mean that you save or have $50B. It just means that you have to spend it and likely more in a different way. All of these programs exist in a dynamic not static economy and there are secondary and tertiary effects. It is not a simple as you think.
Just because you can’t do basic math, look at healthcare spending when Ford took over ( 65B), see that today it’s around (75B), and assuming it continues to grow at annual rate of 3.7% will reach 85B by 2025. You want to bitch about how the money is being spent ( most on LTCs), or how hospital boards spend it. Knock yourself out…

But it does not a cut make. Or do you not grasp what cuts are?

And had you guys listened to warnings, even very left wing economists……..or simply grasped the problem is growth exceeding…

will say, your right, it’s not a simple thing. Especially when you’re in debt up to your eyeballs, have an aging demographic that will put even more pressure ( not to mention workforce problems), and exploding population growth…….with little economic growth ( when adjusted for immigration)…and a ton of other problems, not the least of which are the tax payers the left claim to champion but do nothing for. All demanding $$ to fix.

Please do not tell me what (you think) I am saying.

I am trying to have you realize that you cannot prevent workers from forming a union, unless you argue for a totalitarian society. But maybe that is what you are doing.
So you ask questions rather than providing your own insight and expect answers, and when I try and confirm what you are asking or implying you tell me to not do that?

Are you serious.

Tell you what, how about you stop asking questions and get to the point of what you are actually trying to say rather than attempting to be clever?

At least then we can have a debate rather that navigating the true intentions of your inquiries?

Does that work?

You and your friends can rage against Universal health care as much as you want, and argue for American style health care as much as you want. It will always be a wet dream for you.

It may very well bankrupt the country, because Canada has a fairly inefficient way of providing Universal health care, but the fact remains that the voters demand it, and will vote anybody out who tries to abolish it.

Just face the reality.

Ok, if you are too daft to get it:

Really? Seems like getting raises at the rates very few others get is not exactly "getting rid of nurses".

https://www.ona.org/news-posts/20230720-hospital-central-decision/

You have to look at more than just the hourly rate. Staff nurses get benefits, pensions, etc that are all aspects of their pay.

And guess what...if a private nurse doesn't perform, they get fired. Try that with a union nurse.
!!!!!$140 an hour!!!!!!
According to a recent article in the Globe and Mail, 78 Ontario hospitals used private agency nurses last year, compared with 31 in 2020-21. Private agency nurses are not unionized and receive no benefits or pension. Agencies charge an average of $140 an hour for the services of a qualified nurse.

Now git.

Scram.

Go away and don't come back until you have acquired some semblance of fact and reality.

You prove time after time, post after post, that you care not for anything except willful ignorance, dogmatic blindness and divisiveness.

Probelms with English Danman? Find a single quote where I’ve said anything of the sort. It’s not my problem you can’t read, can’t read budgets, don’t listen to warnings from experts. Nor grasp you can’t fix a house that’s falling apart when your credit line is maxed, and your income isn’t doing much. Especially outside the center of the universe.

Gasp! you mean supply and demand in a free market will set the the price of labour & goods, instead of being held hostage by public unions until we bend to their demands?
In a democratic government, you always need to balance or I would say 'control' the free market. If not we would never have a Hydro Ontario. Or the current bank system that we have which is highly regulated. Our healthcare system same thing.

We are at a point where we need a 'Lodging Ontario' where the government would build and sell houses and apartments at a high discount in the condition that owners cannot freely resell them.

If not our cities will degrade and you know what everyone will lose! I have a colleague who lives in San Francisco. His condo currently lost 30% of its value because of all the looting and violence. And because of the closure of so many commerce around.

The wife of my nephew made 480k as a nurse last year. On her way to do the same this year. She plans to do that 2 more years then bye bye let's have kids, enjoy life and get back to part-time nurse again in a few years to cover basic bills. Her plan is made.

I guess companies like Honda can't prevent their employees from forming a union? Somehow they figured it out without the totalitarian approach you are terrified of?

$140/hour is cheap. Do you know how much benefits, sick days and pensions cost?
You don't. Which explains your limited knowledge.

And speaking oh Hydro and energy poverty and have nots having to choose between food or keeping lights on. Have you all forgotten that too is still in need of fixing and forgotten so soon? And hasn’t seen squat since they fucked it up to begin with? It was just a major election issue you know, back when the gta stuck its head in the sand

What a pathetic response!

So an RN can count on an extra $100/hr for benefits?

If the RN works 1800 hours or 45weeks a year, that means she can expect an $180,000/yr windfall in benefits, sick days and pension costs?

Then a 30-year career in nursing means a windfall, a bonanza of $5.4million on top of her yearly wages?

What planet do you call home?

Can't be earth.

To be honest I have been living in Quebec and have not worked in Ontario since 2020 so I`m a bit lost for political details over there...

All I know is that pretty much all big cities and even smaller ones are in a critical shortage of housing. And that`s not good for anyone long term. There needs to be strong actions that won`t please everyone (especially the rich as they never have enough).

Tell me how much of their salary is allocated to benefits, pension, vacation and sick days. You seem to know exactly how much that is.
I'll wait.
That's with the assumption that you are indeed aware that a portion of their salary is allocated to those things and are not free like all the government assistance you receive.

Stumped by my response and have to resort to insults?
You do know that's the death knell of losing an argument right?
I am sorry if you found my response insulting. It was not intended so. (Maybe I could find it equally insulting that you said I was terrified)

I am just not interesting in a discussion with you if you believe that the governments in Canada can avoid their workers forming unions, because Honda has no unions.

A sign you don't see panhandlers use is "My drug dealer only takes cash can you please help."
One of the staff members in our local LCBO said that the resident panhandlers come in to buy those $2 small bottles meaning every time someone gives them money they spend it right away on alcohol.
