there will be almost 1000000 blacks in T.O by 2017-if they come from Jamaica & other certain countries-our crime/murder number will hit U.S city numbers

This reminds me of news articles that appeared in the Star and Telegram in the early 1960's about the "alarming" number of "colored" people immigrating from Africa and the Carribean Islands. The current populations were already numbering in the "tens of thousands". This latest news smacks of even more anti non-white panic -- as if to say -- it's all well and good to accept non-white immigrants as long as we maintain the majority, power, and control.

The term "non-European" seems an unusual way of categorizing those of us who aren't descended from Europeans (the ones who stole this country from the previous non-European population). But it does help us to visualize Canada as a country which is rapidly becoming home to one of the most multicultural societies on the planet. Especially our biggest cities. I don't see this increase in the proportion of non-Europeans as a weakness or a problem. Non-Europeans have already contributed a great deal to Canada's development and I see no reason why that won't continue.
This article is basically saying that the sum total of all Canadians of non-European descent are soon going to be greater than the sum total of all Canadians of European decent. This isn't surprising. The population of Europe is relatively small compared to the population of the rest of the world. Even if you exclude North, Central and South America (the so-called new world), Europe still accounts for only a modest percentage of the overall world population. So in an open society such as ours, this was bound to happen sooner than later.
If we're lucky, the racial mix inside Canada will someday be proportionate to the racial mix on the outside. This should be a good thing. Racially and culturally, there will no longer be an "us" or a "them". Just a fantastic variety when we're trying to decide where to eat and drink, what to wear, what to read, what movies or entertainment we'd like, what neighbourhood to live in, who to fuck etc. etc. The choices are almost endless. This must happen eventually and it will probably bring more balance and stability than we'd ever get by imposing arbitrary and artificial barriers to immigration or racial quotas etc. This may seem unrealistically utopian to some but it seems to me that Canada has already progressed much too far down this multicultural road to alter our course now. IMHO, this eventual racial balance is now a near certainty.

For people worrying about Toronto going down the shitter... RELAX! - caucasians make up less than 40% of the population of NYC. And last I heard NYC is still considered one of the premier cities in the world. NYC is great because of its diversity among other things.
As for Marco - while I believe you don't mean any harm with your comments, it is sad that you don't see the ignorance behind them. As for Toronto would have been nothing without minorities - Toronto must have been doing something right in the first place to begin attracting minorities all over the world. People take it for granted how ethnically diverse Toronto is. Most of the other world-class non-North American cities do not have anywhere near the diversity of Toronto which is why still so many people come here. Give TO some respect please. Very few non-North American developed countries are so welcoming to immigrants than Toronto. Just try to get a citizenship in Japan or Switzerland. You can be 3rd generation and be denied because of your ethnicity.

We have two sides, each trying to point out the postive vs the negative.
Those who want to see the negative side will seek out and observe that which supports their outlook and filter out the positive. The same for those who want to see the positive. Others are aware of the whole picture and sometimes forced to take the opposing side. Nothing profound, I know.
As for people who are tolerant being labeled "bleeding hearts" - if that involves appreciating other cultures; knowing there is good and bad in all races, and not lashing out, trying to place blame on others for our own issues, then so be it.
