Perhaps Burke and Wilson were using the same ideas for Team USA of the Olympics and the Leafs, with the exception that the talent level of the Leafs is not up to par as Team USA???
Miller was in general very good in the first half of the NHL season and the Olympics. He deserved the Olympics tournament MVP and best goalie honor, although he should have stopped Crosby's winning slap shot in the Olympics medal round, despite being hung out to dry by his teammates. This man showed class when dealing with the media and the medal ceremony. The second half of the NHL season, Miller's play has dropped off somehow. Sometimes he was very ordinary to bad, as in the Thrashers' game, letting in three easy goals in less than 10 minutes, further exposing his team's weaknesses in defense and offense. Whether he wins the Vezina trophy and how far and deep the Sabres go to playoffs will largely depend on how good Miller will be from now and on. Actually if the Leafs can get a goalie as good as Miller, it should go to playoff this year as well.
I assume you mean next season('10/'11), unless the Leafs can pull a rabbit out of the minors, but even at this point I am sure this season is a write off. That is correct, unless they can turn back the time and start the season already lost with a goalie of Miller's calibre. Perhaps the Sabres can lure Burke into trading for their 'top 3 forwards' with Vanek and the other underachievers included. LOL!!!
The early season woes coupled with the January swoon killed any shot at the playoffs this season. It took until March for the team to put three wins together, but they have done it twice over the last few weeks. First time was March 9, 11, 13 when they beat Boston, Tampa and Edmonton. The wins over the Bruins and TBL were in OT and all three in Toronto. After a 4-1 loss to the Isles the Leafs beat the Senators 4-1 in Ottawa and NJ and Montreal at home in SOs.

A friend of mine and I were at the nudie bar some time last November. He is an avid Leaf fan to the point of crazy. It was when they started 1 9 3 that he bet me $1000 that the Leafs would MAKE the playoffs. I WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Winnings to be collected on Thursday.
