I know gifts are not expected however... cash, a smile, thank you or compliment aside what is the most surprising or thoughtful gift you have received?
The only gifts I've ever received from clients are tips and flowers. Rare, but always very much appreciated.

Well, I'll answer your questions, even if not 'anonymously'.
I think my Terb persona is as close to the 'real' me as can be, with some self-censor to protect my privacy and avoid offending some sensibilities. But even in that self-censor context, I think I remain as true as possible to who I am and what I believe in. I think that anyone who's been following my posts here will agree that I don't tend to shy away from calling bullshit when I smell it, or from expressing opinions that may not necessarily be seen as good for 'business'.
I don't work during my period. I take it as a necessary break for my body and mind to 'regroup', and also, because the last thing I feel like doing when suffering from cramps and headaches is having sex.
What I think of my clients is an impossible question to answer, even if I could do it 'anonymously'. I could answer the question for each individual client, but as a group, the only thing I can say is that most are decent gentlemen, and a few who aren't.
Minimizing the unpleasantness: it depends what the 'unpleasantness' is. In my experience, the 'unpleasantness' tend to come from either two things: 1) bad hygiene; or 2) arrogance. In the case of 1), I send them to the shower, take out the baby wipes, and/or just refuse to perform certain activities. In the case of 2), I encourage more fucking and less talking, and I go to my 'happy place'.
No, I never feel bad (as in guilty or ashamed) about my job.
