Jays should trade SMoak unless he agrees to an extension in his contract

He is a FA next year and should command some decent young talent as a starting all star

Happ, JD and Smoak are the players we can trade with expected good return

Joey Bats not so much but has some value and no way would he refuse a trade to a contender

BTW Milwaukee has expressed interest in Happ

Red Sox would love JD now that Sandaval is history

Jeezus Christ, after all those trades we would have no team left anymore......LOL.

EDIT: Not that I slightly agree on some trade parts

WTF is wrong with that?
Nothing!

But at the and of the day, who do we trade, and who do we keep??
And keep in mind, I been drinking tonight, so I'm not entirely kosher right now.

Cheers, you freak!!!

I wanna see something there, please.

Interesting thing Jerry Howarth said on AMradio, its not the trades you hear about that eventually get worked out, its the ones you dont hear about that will!!!!!!

Hhmm......... I would love to see Dee Gordon in Toronto!!!

Osuna has to be an untouchable. Maybe Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman as well. They will be the cornerstone of the next Jay dynasty.

This is what is known in America these days as fake new, with only the scent of truthiness.

Justin Smoak is not only not a Free Agent in 2018, he's not a Free Agent in 2019 either, unless the Blue Jays decide to decline a club option & pay him $250,000 to go away.

The only part of your comment that brushes against accuracy is that he'd probably fetch a decent prospect or 2, should a contender be in the market for a 1st baseman.

He actually is. His contract expires in 2018 AFAIK.
Or do I have that wrong??? (too lazy to google....LOL)

EDIT: either way, Smoak is outta here either next year or the years after that, unless Shapiro offers him a nice, big, fat long-term contract

Babe Ruth got traded.
Wayne Gretzky got traded.
Joe Montana got traded.
Wilt Chamberlain got traded.

Anyone is available, should the return be sufficient.

Or, the year after the year after next year, a Free Agent for the 2020 season.

Or, you could take it up with Cot's Contracts.... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yWSNPHx65_se_zS7qGR-i1VUBkBvNU7sXBHmyXHmE4s/edit#gid=0

Mr. Smoak does get a raise for the 2019 season, should the Blue Jays pick up his option, from $4.125M to $6M.

Justin Smoak will be 33 for the 2020 season. The Blue Jays would be foolish to enter into a long term deal with him at that point,
as his production will likely be on the decline by that time, or shortly thereafter.

If we're gonna trade him we might as well dynamite the whole house down and start over again.

I'm not saying I'm against the idea per se, but if we're gonna do it properly, we might as well nuke the whole shitshow into oblivion, finish last in AL east for next year or two, get a bunch of really good prospects, and get this party started in 2020

There's no demand for him. Only team really in need of a 1st baseman is New York
There's no demand for an ALL-STAR first baseman??? Are you being serious??
There's a lineup of eligible teams who would trade for Smoak in a heartbeat!!

I just hope Jays dont trade him. We need a core group of players, dammit!
Oh and I've been drinking tonight, so have at me you filthy c*nts!!! :p

Morales and Pearce have been excellent signings.
I'm not sure where we would be without their offensive contributions

This was discussed on The Fan yesterday. The demand isn't what you think it is and most teams either aren't desperate for a 1st baseman OR don't believe the hype. We're not going to get the return you think we will, at least not now. Might get more trading him in the off season (assuming he keeps it up all season long).
