Jays should trade SMoak unless he agrees to an extension in his contract
He is a FA next year and should command some decent young talent as a starting all star
Happ, JD and Smoak are the players we can trade with expected good return
Joey Bats not so much but has some value and no way would he refuse a trade to a contender
BTW Milwaukee has expressed interest in Happ

Justin Smoak is not only not a Free Agent in 2018, he's not a Free Agent in 2019 either, unless the Blue Jays decide to decline a club option & pay him $250,000 to go away.
The only part of your comment that brushes against accuracy is that he'd probably fetch a decent prospect or 2, should a contender be in the market for a 1st baseman.
He actually is. His contract expires in 2018 AFAIK.

EDIT: either way, Smoak is outta here either next year or the years after that, unless Shapiro offers him a nice, big, fat long-term contract

Mr. Smoak does get a raise for the 2019 season, should the Blue Jays pick up his option, from $4.125M to $6M.
Justin Smoak will be 33 for the 2020 season. The Blue Jays would be foolish to enter into a long term deal with him at that point,
as his production will likely be on the decline by that time, or shortly thereafter.

This was discussed on The Fan yesterday. The demand isn't what you think it is and most teams either aren't desperate for a 1st baseman OR don't believe the hype. We're not going to get the return you think we will, at least not now. Might get more trading him in the off season (assuming he keeps it up all season long).
