Hahahahaha

That was a suggestion.... if a section had been closed off where it was a well known fact that everyone was indeed from TERB, then the need wouldn't exist :) However that wasn't the case. Anyhow, to each their own. Party hats anyone?

Most of these guys wear name tags at work, and now you want them to wear them at night too?

Not since Miranda - of blessed memory! - organized parties in a small bar on Bloor Street near High Park has there been anything acceptable for people with some taste or discrimination.
You have not been out to the right places lately, and by the way I was at that party you are referring to and Miranda and taste do not necessarily go together :)

This obviously wasn't like that, and it's a pity. Regular gatherings - and not in strip clubs where the dancers resent whom they see as "competition" - can be wonderful fun.
This has to be one of the biggest misconceptions going. I did attend the other party mostly because it was close to where I live. If the two parties were not so far apart I would have liked to attend both. I was even hesitant to go to the SC because in the past I was not too pleased with the talent there. However your statement is so far from the truth. Quite possibly you had a bad experience in the past. On this particular occasion the atmosphere was fantastic.

I do agree with you though, it would be nice to have a cross-board event where there is no animosity. If both groups were together it would have been a massive gathering of fellow hobbiests.

It sounds to me that all events that night were successful in raising toys and money for very worthy causes, which is what it was all about.

I was told that the original organizer tried to do just that, and got banned from hear because of it. Is that true?

I went to the other party and took precautions. I switched my license plates with my neighbors ones, I wore dark sunglasses throughout and I bought a George Bush face mask (on sale after Halloween). I was safe.

btw, besides those minor annoyances of having to walk around and look like a drunken president, lol, the party rocked

C'mon, let's be positive here.

There was a lot of effort put into these parties and if we want more of them we can be be constructive with any criticism like Francesca has. It's great that lots of toys and money were gathered to make Christmas special for some kids, next year can be even better!

I was unable to attend the party :(

My only advice to those that were not happy is:

Don't complain, Get involved !!!

Good Morning,

littleboyblue,

Don't leave the board, Both Annalee and EOTD is correct.

I'm sorry that you were treated in a bad way. I don't know what happened, nor was I at the party. Actually I didn't know there was a terb party.LOL. Anyway please don't go bud; there are lots of other people on here that are really down to earth and genuine. They look beyond a Physical characteristics of a person and get to know them for who they are and judges them from that point. I believe Annalee and EoTD on their comment. Please don't leave the board.

I'm not suggesting that the party wasn't safe, I am saying that Winston should have known better than to involve THAT board. Personally I don't blame Fred and Sheik, Their name is posted all over that board.

Sorry, I am sure lots of people put a lot of hard work into the party but I thought it was terrible. About as good as the first terb party I attended at Midway invader back in the summer/spring which was atrocious.

Never coming out again. Not till you guys learn how to run an event.

Sorry,

Let me clear the air a little.

Now that I've calmed down, let me explain.

When I go to a noisy bar I have trouble getting peoples attention verbally (I'm not very loud). I've found that if I park in a well travelled area and make eye contact and smile, people generally react (at least a head nod or hello). With the ice broken many people will return for a conversation.

So when I decided to attend a terb party I figured I'm part of the community and we all have something in common, this should be fun. Every time I made eye contact people simply averted their gaze and walked faster. The only person who said hello was the bouncer when I came in. I didn't even get one single head nod or hello in the three hours I was there. Even the waitresses ignored me.

To make things even more embarrassing, I had told my friend/attendant how friendly and open the terb community was. Since he also hobbies on occasion himself he was interested in the party.

In juxtaposition, my friend and I arrived before the party was scheduled to begin. We needed somewhere to stay warm. I thought the Italian Espresso place across the parking lot looked like a good idea. The store was very narrow at the front so we headed for the back. Oops! There was a big poker game going on. With the atmosphere and the characters present I kept looking around for Tony Soprano. My friend was shitting bricks. I asked if we could stick around to warm up. They all said hi and no problem. Then one of them yelled at the guy behind the counter, "don't just stand there, get them something!". We had two espresso on the house. When we left everyone wished us a good night and a merry Christmas.

The local gangsters treated me better than the members of terb!

Very true. This was something I failed to mention earlier. Well done everyone. Whether we agree whether the party was ideal or not, this was definately a success, and what Christmas is all about.

invisible handicaps & elitism

In my experience, especially for some people who have never been to a TERB party before, they are going primarily to meet people they know from the board. Many peoples approach, including, my own initially, was to only be introduced to the members I had built up some connection to "on board". I also had the advantage of having gone on blind dates with some members prior to my first partay ( Rusty, Ref ... you know, the "safer" members) So, I'm not so sure it has much, if anything, to do with your handicap, Littleboyblue. For some people the name tags are a good thing, but initially many are apprehensive. For anyone who wants to be recognized it's almost a must - that way people can decide, given their perception of you from the board, whether to avoid ya (read;run like the plague), bitch slap ya or get cozy.

Also people do tend to get caught up in themselves and in such an environment unless one is able to actively socialize, then yes, it is a handicap. I'm not exactly the most social creature myself and I can assure you people won't say boo to me in such a social setting, without knowing me prior and even then I usually end up hanging out with Jesterz or Anon1 ... heheh.

Anyway, just some food for thought. I do notice there is a change in the sense of community and dynamics since the early days of the TERB party's - some reasons being obvious and others maybe not so obvious.

TERB party?

I suppose that expectations govern how we come away from a party as hyped as the TERB affair. Apparently mine were way to high going in. I do appreciate the efforts put forth to organize the event. It was great o donate to a deserved charity, I did have the pleasure of meeting two other members, and given that I had nothing better to do on a Thursday evening, I had an OK time.

I arrived way too early, (I have no life) :) When I walked in, other than a donation being collected at the door, there was absolutely no clue that this could have been an industry party. There was as mentioned, a woman’s pool tournament taking place on one side of the room, a second rate rock band playing regurgitated two and three chord songs with rifs borrowed freely from any number of classic hits from the past. (However, the band that played later was actually very good). So here sat all he men on one side of the room, drinking beer alone for the most part, and the girls playing pool on the other, it had the distinct feel of a seventh grade sock hop…

The venue was defiantly lacking from what I expected, a country western bar, with all the ambiance of a bowling alley, a plethora of biker types roaming around, and he best thing to look at being the sexy young bartenders in their push up tops and mini skirts. I saw no sign of SP’s, but then with no way to know if people were there for the TERB party, the pool tournament, or the regular Thursday night beer drinking, it was impossible to tell.
Francesca, I m sorry I missed you dear, but it sounds like you were similarly impressed.

I finally met up with two fellow terbites whom were great guys, PHnine and A 1 player. We spent an hour or so chatting, comparing terb review notes, and basically waiting for something to happen; i.e. SP’s walking around, or an MC to indicate that there was actually something going on that had something to do with TERB. Then it began, kind of... a relatively good band did some tight well expressed rock and roll. What followed was to me uninteresting, a somewhat lame BDSM demo advertising a business which to me had little to do with escorting or hobbying with sophisticated beautiful women. Admittedly, I am not the least interested in that type of thing, and found it distasteful. To each his own.
About that time I decided I would be better off bidding adieu, and one of my friends agreed, we left to salvage as best we could the evening.

Suggestions for improvement: I have been an event organizer for international trade shows and sporting events, so I think I can speak from experience, and perhaps help TERB do better, if that is, if there is a desire to upgrade the experience and make it a true industry party.

•Get the industry to actually participate; meaning agencies committing to donate time to attend with at least a few SP’s classily dressed with some identification.

•Hosts or preferably hostesses mingling with the attendees

•A dedicated venue, most important, so everyone knows who is there and why

•Optional name tags for those seeking out fellow terbites.

•Appropriate entertainment for all, not a narrow segment

Maybe I was expecting too much, if so, my apologies, but call it like I see it.

I went to both gatherings and the contrast could not be any greater.
Birchmount was an open party with live music, stage shows and celeberty hosting. 150-200 people, mostly civilains but you could not tell who was whom unless you already knew them.
Seductions was a community meet and greet. Fewer attendees but we all knew each other or became easily acquainted.
Each had it's own positives and negatives. If you didn't have a good time it's because you went to the wrong party.:D

Well I apologize on behalf of those donkeys ass that ignored you and didn't give you the respect that you deserve. I know the feeling bud, our differences in life are judge too much and people don't take the time to get to know the person's heart. It is too bad how society is these days. I'm really sorry about that.

I too have a close friend that is disabled, and he is really close to me. We grew up together and he had an accident a few years ago and is in a wheel chair. I see the looks that people give when we're out and I just ignore it and have our fun together as pals.

I'm happy you're still here, and enjoy you're time with the good ladies and guys here.
