If you take into account gentleman ship Federer is the absolute goat. Probably all sports included.
Federer is in my top 3 favourite players of all time.

Laver, Borg and Roger were all the greatest players of their times and all were total gentleman. You barely heard a peep from Bjorn or Rocket Rod during a match.

Roger had the most stylish game of the 3. Very graceful and fluid motion. Very elegant.

spent most of my day today at park Jarry in Montreal as my son is working there (as a competitive player he spends the whole week there doing various work).

The highlight of my day...

Seeing Alycia Parks's game. Her serve is amazing. She had 3 or 4 aces on her second serve!

Walking to random practice court only to realize 2 security guards are opening traffic in front of me... Leyla Fernandez was just besides me!!! My heart stopped. What a magnificent and magnetic girl... Wow!

See Sabalenka practice... all smile. This girl is pure joy.

Then i went to see another random court which was so full... it was Swatek. Could not get close enough :( Too many people so i went to see Camila Giorgi's game :)

Tennis can be so unpredictable. Milos beats a top ten player on Monday. Bianca gets trounced by the lovely Camilla, who is ranked 10 slots lower than her on Tuesday. At the same time, Felix loses 6-4, 6-4 to an opponent ranked 60 points behind him. Also at the same time, Gabriel Diallo, another Canadian, beats Dan Evans, who is ranked a mere 160 points ahead of him. Like I said, unpredictable.

Not to diminish Laver's record but one of his Grand Slam was against amateurs because the best players were professionals and ineligible.

Poor Bianca, she got the worst possible draw.

Nobody wants to face Camilla in the first round. Montreal is her type of town, she speaks fluent French and knows how to seduce the crowd. Bianca didn't stand a chance.

I've never heard of Gabriel Diallo, he's very young and could do some damage. He faces McLovin (Alex de Minaur) today followed by the male models (Berrettini vs Sinner). Being Italians, they both have their own clothing lines.

No highlights yet.

True, but the vast majority of the players were all amateurs at that time, including Laver, and other all time greats. If not, he wouldn't have been able to participate. They all had the same status. Most of the players he beat for his second Grand Slam were the same players he beat for his 1st one.

Being pro did not mean that you were necessarily better than all the other players. Seeing as Laver won his first Grand Slam as an amateur proves the point that most of the best players were still amateurs. It just meant that they were willing to play for money, but for that privilege, they accepted being banned from the Grand Slam tournaments. Laver lost 6 of his best years due to that ban. He won all 4 Slams, then turned pro and then got banned the following year. Once reinstated, 6 years later, he won all 4 again. As such he missed out on 24 Grand Slam tournaments in his absolute prime. Even if he'd won half of them, he'd be at 26 Grand Slam tournaments won. GOAT. The renowned tennis historian and broadcaster, Bud Collins, was in agreement. He passed in 2016 so he was still able to see Roger, Rafa and Novak when making that assessment.

It was a few brave players who took that risk and paved the way for the current status. I remember seeing a pic of them all and there were only about a dozen or so. Off the top of my head, aside from Laver, there was Pierre Barthes (French), Roger Taylor (Brit) and Pancho Gonzales (Mexico) and possibly Roy Emerson (Ozzie). I saw Pancho play a Canadian Open match at the Cricket Club on Wilson Ave. Boy, he had a temper. He lost a point and got so mad that he took a ball and smashed it over the main clubhouse and it must have landed right onto Wilson.

I have memories of Parc Jarry (Expos MLB). So that is where the women are playing?
Yes the parc was competely transform into a state of the art tennis facility. A 20 thousand seat main court along with a smaller 4k seat, 10 outside court and a few inside ones. Beautiful facility. The huge parc is still there with baseball and soccer field.
The parc Jarry is still the rendez-vous of choice for many Montreal family for week-end pic nic.

The street that leads to then entrance as been renamed the Gary Carter street. To honor the only star player of Montreal (who dared to learn french!) The family of the player was present in Montreal when that happened a few years ago.

Camilla could seduce a wooden soldier.

Thanks for the Parc Jarry update. Haven't been back to Montreal in many years. Seems I spend more time in the U.S. now than in Canada when I'm not in Toronto. Wonder if the infamous Reservoir is still as I remember it? I saw some recent videos of McGill University and it has changed physically a lot.

You would never Parc Jarry area. Its now an absolute great neighbourhood to live.

McGill did change a lot. I sometimes go to watch a montreal allouette football game because of the venue. They play at the McGill Molson Stadium at the foot of mont-royal. Probably one of the most spectacular stadium in america.

Used to spend much in Toronto which i really like. Since 2020 i am in montreal only.

Leylah Fernandez has gone from adorable to super sexy. She's also developing into a female Mats Wilander, if her opponents commit too many unforced errors they will lose. She must use copious amounts of Old Spice Men's Body Wash on that soft caramel skin of her's. She's 21 now, I can say that without being tarred a communist prevert.

There's going to be a raucous crowd tonight, Camila vs Petra Kvitova. I like Petra, she's a class act who's gone through much. The crowd loves Camila, she's a seductress who puts them in her ball pocket.
