Fact: The Chief Medical Officer and Sick Kids Hospital have both said the risk is low and have given their approval to re-open. Is that not good enough for you?

Fact: The Ministry has provided $500 million towards school improvements for physical distancing and $50 million for ventilation systems, $18 million for more online learning resources
https://www.thestar.com/news/canada...ack-to-school-plan-breaks-provincial-law.html

Fact: The Ministry has subsidized equipment and internet service to whoever needed it through this pandemic

Fact: Online learning doesn't work if teachers are told by their unions to not make it work. The private schools somehow managed to make it work. You know why? Cause they are not unionized and if a teacher refused to do it properly they are fired.

Jeezuz the union was even screaming about not having 4 elearning courses introduced just before the pandemic.

Meanwhile you have the unions and teachers only coming up with reasons about why things won't work rather than putting in the effort to make them work.

But we all know the unions are not about the kids. They just use them as pawns during the bargaining process.

Time to scrap these teachers unions altogether. People have lost their patience and those union tactics are coming to light more than ever.
The TDSB worked out plans and sent them out to parents.
Two weeks before school starts Ford rejected them and now demands that teachers give up class preparation time.
Ford just made sure that school will not start on time.

Fact: Sick Kids Hospital has come out against the Ford plan because their plan is completely different calling for smaller class sizes and a staggered start, Barbara Yaffe the associate chief medical officer of health has used the words "we'll see how it goes" when it comes to reopening the schools. Very reassuring words to parents when they are sending their kids back to school, leading to a petition of 300k signed and Boy Wonder to have press conferences that were unscheduled breaking up his selfie opportunities on Twitter.

Fact: That $500 million that Boy Wonder keeps bragging about is not new money, it is reserves that school boards accumulated (largely through the Liberals years) that he is telling them to dip into to use.

Fact: talk to anyone who lives in maybe a couple of hours outside of Toronto and you will see how great the internet service is, they used equipment that was already in the schools, so nothing new there.

Fact: that "told not to make it work" is based on nonsense, like I said ministry approves curriculum and boards and teachers carry it out. Those 4 elearning courses were to be mandatory in high school, ever met a teenager lately? they do not have the knowledge, skills or the willpower to get through a course. You love private schools so much? great give teachers private school class sizes, approximately 15 students to a class.

Your responses are rooted in neocon ideology, you are all about privatization of everything , Ontario has one of the top school systems in the world (check the stats always top 10 in science and math) and you want us to go down the road of Alabama led by the likes of Boy Wonder copying Betsy Devos. You are about union busting, the same unions who their members elect their leadership, and that leadership carries out their wishes and protects them. People have lost their patience with this Ford government, that's why we are seeing Boy Wonder more often on TV these days, and they will remember it during the next election, I am done here, no longer waste my time on people whose ideas have their ideological blinders on and so clued out of reality.

sorry, the province is broke, the teacher gravy train will have to come to a screeching halt. The cupboard is bare and the debt is massive and is unsustainable
Ignoring this FACT will only compound the problem and make the eventual painful solution, more painful

it is reserves that school boards accumulated (largely through the Liberals years) that he is telling them to dip into to use.
This reserve is an accounting term. This is not $500 MM of cash sitting in a bank account waiting to be used.
It is incremental borrowing the province will need to borrow.
More debt on top of a massive debt - accumulated (largely through the Liberals years)

The problem with socialist is they are always running out of other peoples money

You must be getting your facts from union propaganda pamphlets and Dr. Theresa Tam.

Yaffe and Williams both support the plan: https://kawarthanow.com/2020/07/30/...y-that-looks-and-feels-as-much-as-it-used-to/

$500 million is coming from reserves. Where do you expect it to come from? What is the reserve for if not for a situation like this?

Get you facts straight:
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) reports that 98% of Ontario households have access to the most basic download speed of at least 5 Mbps.

You're done here? Ok, then run away and take these facts with you.

Two weeks before school starts Ford rejected them and now demands that teachers give up class preparation time.
Ford just made sure that school will not start on time.
In a statement, Ministry of Education spokesperson Caitlin Clark said the rejection was largely due to the school board moving prep time into what was traditionally considered part of the school day.

"We want to see students in class for a full day. Several teacher unions have refused to discuss issues such as prep time, supervision limits, and lunch breaks," Clark told CP24. "This has forced boards to make significant adaptations, which in many cases does not serve to maximize learning experience, health and safety, and well-being of students."

...more sabotage from the unions.

Not sabotage, boob.
Ford is asking for unions to give up 2 hours of prep time for nothing in return.
How would you feel if Timmies told you that you had to work for two more hours and not get paid for it?

Really, they "worked" for months doing nothing and got paid in full for it. I didn't hear them complaining about that did you?

Many people lost jobs when there was no work or their business was closed down and have no job to go back to.

The union is pushing back despite what the government has offered in terms of funding for more resources. To be honest, I think they are being offered too much.

These teachers have been coddled too long. Get back to work or quit. No shortage of qualified teachers that could step in to replace the lazy ones.

You're making shit up again, boob.

The teachers were in contract dispute with Ford and for the good of the province ended those talks and continued to work with the shut down.
Now Ford wants to use the shut down to try to force contract concessions.
He's going to end up putting teachers back on the picket line or ignoring the province.

Ford wants teachers to work in unsafe conditions, risk spreading the virus again and not have time to prep for classes.

The ministry's guidelines also call for class sizes to remain at pre-COVID-19 levels, meaning many elementary students could find themselves in class of 30 or more.

Brown noted that Toronto Public Health has recommended the TDSB work to reduce class sizesas much as possible, and that the board intends to do so.

Chief Medical Officer (Williams) has stated it's safe. You want Ford to listen to him or not? Cause if he didn't, you would spin your argument a different way.

If a workplace is inspected and detetmined safe and someone doesn't want to go back, they essentially have quit. That's how it works.

Teachers did nothing during the shutdown. They had to be told to actually put in effort. And you think they were working? hahaha

So you believe one public health official but not another because it fits your ideological narrative? what facts, you rambled off some of Boy Wonder's talking points, I shot them down all and you came back with nothing, I am glad you think children's safety is worth 7 cents a day, I thought neocons were heartless but wow that is a whole new level.

Toronto Public Health says otherwise.

The Ford government was the one responsible for cutting back on long term health care inspections, that drove our initial round of deaths.

Is the Chief Medical Officer not good enough for you? Isn't that who the public and politicians have been listening to through this whole pandemic? Now it's not good enough?

Talk about an ideological narrative! That's funny!

Yes, the TDSB must respect the Toronto Health Board.
Only a Trumptard would want to put children at risk.
Nope. TDSB falls under provincial jurisdiction. They receive directives from the Ministry of Education.

Another TDS injection from you in a thread having nothing to do with Trump.

You lost another argument. But you're used to that.
