Holy f**k are people delusional.

Hstory will show the very last thing Justin Trudeau cares about is Canada or Canadians. In time it will be proven he was the worst “leader” Canadians have ever elected.

First, the Emergencies act and the war measures act are not the same thing. War measures allowed the total lifting of civil rights. That's why they arrested something like 450 people without cause. This new measure still ensures you have your charter rights. So, spinning it as if they are identical is just bullshit.

When did BLM set up camp outside city hall? And did something like that happen during Trudeau's time as PM? If you're remembering the Occupy Wall Street protests where there was a camp in that park by St. James Cathedral....that was under Harper's watch. And the police did evict them after a while.

Ottawa is a different beast than Windsor. There are more trucks and people, and they've dug in. The issue is they should have never allowed the truckers to act the way they did for over a week.

Ok maybe not the same thing but very similar. It removes a lot of your civil liberties. It wasn't BLM but a similar group. Where was Trudeau on this one? They were there for 3 weeks until the police moved them out. What about the blockades by the Indigenous? Where was he on that one? Very hypocritical.
.
Why can't the police evict the people in Ottawa? They haven't even really tried

Did they honk their horns all night and harass the locals?
How many dj's?
Did they block traffic?

They don't enforce laws against white people apparently.

Did the city of Toronto ask for Federal help? Did the protesters impede federal jurisdictions like international trade? These are not similar situations. The police should not have allowed them to set up camp. And they evicted them eventually. The difference here is the truckers in Ottawa were blocking roads, harassing citizens, and honking air hours at all hours. Also, I don't recall any GoFundMe pages financing the city hall protest, nor do I seem to recall them harassing the citizens of Toronto.

But, if we want to call attention to how the government handles First Nations protests, maybe we look back at what happened to Dudley George at Ipperwash. I don't want to see anything like that ever again.

Actually they do. It happened in Windsor and Coutts. Ottawa is the only stand out and until today their police chief was black.

They didn't ask for help because Tory didn't care until he started to get complaints and the police did their job. The protesters in Ottawa are not impeding international trade. Where do you think BLM and these other groups get their money? Through donations, should the government freeze accounts linked to them? They were breaking the law with their "occupation" of City Hall. Both the Conservatives and Liberals show hypocrisy when it comes to protests. The Cons complained about the First Nation Protests and BLM and the Liberals with this one because of who votes for them. This was a strong armed tactic by a weak Prime Minister. This is something a dictator would do. This should have been handled by the Ottawa police and they failed. Windsor got rid of the blockade in one day. The invocation was unnecessary. Had it been a Liberal cause he would have done nothing. Freezing bank accounts is another strong arm tactic. If a minority group were doing this for a cause do you think he would invoke this act? Not a chance in hell.

I think the operative word you seem to be missing is the illegal part. I seem to think that if it was BLM or a First Nations protest, you'd be totally fine with removing them by any means necessary.
freedom convoy and BLM and First nations protests...the only difference? you hate the freedom convoy...

No, a dictator would send in the army with tanks weeks ago. A dictator wouldn't allow any protests at all. Stop trying to demonize him for something any prime minister would do. And yes, I think he would invoke this act if it were a liberal cause. And it probably would have taken a few weeks for him to make the decision to do it. This isn't something he wanted to do, and he isn't doing it because of what they are protesting. You need to separate the fact from fiction. Let me ask you this: Do you think Harper would allow this to go on? I don't think so. I think he would do the same thing. Heck, he might have done it sooner.

What you don't want to acknowledge is that by doing this, he's actually setting the table for a peaceful dispersal of protesters. Hopefully when they know they have no money to support this, and police start to enforce things, they will recognize the necessity to vacate their occupation. This will remove the need for the police to put on the riot equipment and tear gas the hell out of them.

While I do support most First Nation grievances (lord knows they have a lot and many reasons to be upset) and BLM, I would not support this type of protest. BLM didn't harass people in the areas where they protested (not talking about the protests that went violent in places like Minnesota). Peaceful protests are vital to our democracy. While I think this movement is stupid and misguided (and likely a scam), I do not have a problem with them protesting. As I've said, the issue is the way they've tried to hijack our government (the original MOU they had talked about dissolving parliament, and them working with the senate and the GG to revoke all mandates) and have threatened violence. Blocking international trade is also a thing I have an issue with (just like I did for the First Nations that blocked rail lines).

I believe I am fairly consistent in my views. I will call out the hypocrisy in Trudeau, Poilievre or Singh (or Trump/Biden). I do not think it is alright when the party/people I support do shitty things. And, as I've said many times...I'm not exactly a fan of Trudeau. I didn't like Harper, but I can honestly say he was a much better PM than I thought he would be. He didn't pass crazy legislation or mess with abortion, and managed to keep his neo-con social conservative members in check. That takes a lot of skill, as O'Toole discovered.

I don't know if any prime minister would do it. Half the Premiers are opposed to it. They are all leaders. I doubt Harper would have the mandates Trudeau does, hence no protest. That's what they are protesting. The mandates. I doubt Trudeau would do this if it was a Liberal cause. He wouldn't alienate his voters. These people didn't vote for him so he doesn't care. Let me ask you this. Lots of countries have had protests over mandates. Why hasn't any other leader felt the need to go this far? Our national security is not threatened so why invoke this act? The border issue in Windsor was done even before he invoked the act because the police did their job. He doesn't like the protesters and what they stand for and it is a petty act by a petty man.

Did you forget that the George Floyd protesters who shut down an entire block in Minnesota for over a year or the takeover of a section of Seattle and Portland for months? The protest in Ottawa is peaceful. The emergencies act is bullshit
