I am very sure you are in the minority, re the training and control aspect.

I guess my question is, why would somebody want to own a pet that could at any given time, attack somebody, including the owner.
my dogs are great dogs. get along with my kids well( and they pull the ears and the nose and never even teeth beared by the pitt's) and with other dogs in the park i take them too. they are just good dogs. and yes i own them and no i dont think they would attack anything. going on 11 years and they will die of old age before they would attack anything.

as i said. its an owner issue. and the minority are the ones that attack. you think there are only 100 pitt bulls around? lol

Had a friend who used to speak as Big Head does about his dog. He bragged about how well his dog was trained and that it would never be vicious towards a human. Well now that he's one ball short of a set he definetly has change his position. Fact is no matter how much you know your dog and no matter how well you train your dog, any dog can be triggered and be sent into a violent rage causing severe injury or death.

This story is very similar to the ones you read about, after pit bull attacks.
It is 90% owner issue.. the other 10% is the dog..they are known to sometimes snap for no reason. It could be their pedigree, nobody seems to know the answer.

I have no doubt that you love your dogs and look after them properly. But their are a lot of owners that don't. Alot of people that own dogs should not even have one, and I am not just refering to pit bulls.

.
This would NOT be true - a professional dog trainer had 2 pit bulls who attacked and almost killed her own grandaugther. She said she is a responsible owner, somehow the pit bulls just went mad w/o any reasons.

Pit Bull Attack On Child In Pasadena
Apr 25, 2006 10:14 am US/Eastern

Upon arrival, police saw a ten-year-old girl run up and say that her friend was being attacked in the face.

An officer saw the young boy lying on the ground with the pitbull on top of him. The victim has been identified as a ten-year-old boy from the 7000 block of Levy Court in Pasadena. Paramedics rushed him to Baltimore Washington Medical Center where he is being treated for bites and lacerations to his head, face, and hands.

As the officer was taking out his weapon, the dogs ran away. The pitbull was later found and shot twice because it became aggressive with the officer. Animal Control Officers responded and took custody of the Pit Bull and the Collie located nearby.

The investigation is still underway as Animal Control Officers are attempting to identify the owners of both dogs. The dog's owners could face county charges for "animals running at large" and allowing their animals to be a "public safety threat". These charges are misdemeanors and a fine of $50 may be set for each charge per animal.

another misconception. ANY DOG can. and yes people do know the answer.
Yes, any dog can snap but as a breed the pit bull is much more likely to than any other breed. It's a simple fact. Check the stats because the math simply doesn't lie. And yes, people know the answer: pit bulls have an unstable temperment that makes them horrible pets.
