I watch some clips of the movie. It's horrible to begin with. After that, it's clear children today don't identify with these titles.
If Disney want to go in this direction, there choice. But the huge budget is spent on such a horrible, limited-market movie is odd.

Films are a lot more than the story, there are all kinds of other pieces involved.

A good story line is a critical part of a any film.

We are clearly using magical differently here.
It's an old oral tale passed down and the Disney version, in particular, is very simple.
The characters are flat, there isn't much that actually goes on, it's all quite simple.
It's serviceable enough to hang all the elements that make it a great film on, that's it.
(And hell, the Disney version is far more tamed and wokified than some earlier versions - no iron shoes! No thruple happy ending!)

But it isn't the only part of a film that matters and it isn't as if a film without one can't be a good film.
The prince in the classic Disney version is a largely irrelevant character (since they couldn't animate him well so they got rid of his storyline).
There are versions where her dad wakes her.
And, of course, in the Grimm version, he buys her and doesn't wake her with a kiss.

He's a super minor character, actually.
He shows up in the first song and then at the end to kiss her.
He was supposed to have more story, but the animators couldn't draw him convincingly, so they cut it.
They worked on it and were able to have a better Prince for Cinderella and then finally get it right in Sleeping Beauty where you finally get the Prince as a major character.
