Russia will invade and occupy Ukraine before the end of February. China will invade and occupy Taiwan right after the Olympics.

I think both you and Dan missed what I assume is the sarcasm font in Mugabe's post.
Negative. You missed the sarcasm in my post.

I think he did. I don't think he was supposed to say it.
He also didn't say it.
He said the response by the US would depend on what Russia does.
Of course, some pro-war people are interpreting it as "he gave Russia the green light to invade" so they can pressure him to use maximum force for anything the Russians do.
They haven't forgiven him taking away their Afghanistan war and they really want him to commit troops to another war soon.

Well the latest from The British Intel Agencies, is that Russia are in touch with Pro-Putin Ukrainian Leaders and they want to topple the present Ukrainian regime.
Putin wants to build a New Soviet Union!!

They may from time to time have and reely upon faulty intelligence but i do not believe that they or American intelligence agencies make a habit of lying.

Hmmmmm, i remember the WMD and other cases.

But you may be correct, in that it is not the intelligence agencies that are doing the lying. They are just quiet when somebody else claims to quote them.

It is a subtle difference.

Perhaps but not that subtle. Apart from whistleblower statutes and the like they swear an oath to keep intelligence confidential. Except in the most egregious situations (the Pentagon Papers for example) it is not up to intelligence agencies to make political decisions.

Then there is Mike Pompeo about the time he was CIA director: " I was the CIA director, We lied, we cheated, we stole. We had entire training courses in "

Perhaps a poor distinction but I do not regard Pompeo or any other cabinet secretary under the now former only twice impeached POTUS in history as a member of the intelligence community or the justice department or the commerce department etc. they were employees there to do their masters bidding and nothing else.

For all his phony bravado and tough talk the other guy was shown to be a paper tiger. Well other than whimsically invoking tariffs. At least with Joe he means what he says and doesn't use laughable rhetoric which is aimed more at his base than his adversaries.
In 2019, America's Greatest President unilaterally imposed tariffs on Canadian aluminum, the business council went apeshit and the Maga Messiah dropped it.

You could say that NATO brought confrontation in the Ukraine on themselves, they started supplying the Ukranians with the latest military hardware. This alarmed Putin, he started to amass forces. NATO did the same during the Balkan War, arming Croatia to the teeth. When the counter-offensive began, the Serbs got steam-rolled and negotiated peace.

Putin knows that the Ukranians will never accept Russian suzerainty, even if he does take over the country. He'll be locked in guerilla war in every region west of Donbas, he'll be fighting house to house in every big city. Is he willing to turn a breadbasket like the Ukraine into an apocalyptic wasteland?

He did say it, hence his flaks were all over the networks the next day "explaining " as was the President of Ukraine.

The bigger risk to Putin is a successful prosperous functioning democracy on its border. the Russian people will start challenging the autocratic kleptocrat who is their leader.

Ukraine itself is way too kleptocratic to become a prosperous democracy any time soon. I don’t think Putin is worried about it.

Wrong. Russians are happy with the semi autocracy of Putin. Why? Russians prefer "stability " above all. Putin is delivering stability and with the demand for the Russian energy he will be able to increase the domestic social spending. Oh, BTW what do we have, here?

You may be right in the short term but without Russian interference it was moving in that direction.

You have a point here. However, Pompeo did say that the CIA has courses in lying.

Of course, that is from somebody who says he lies.

Hahahaha, always bringing up the cancellation of Keystone XL Pipeline into the mix. Not one drop of oil was transported through it. It would have still been under construction if not scrapped!!
Why has Alberta not invested in some critical Refineries to cope with the Global demand for oil?

^^^ This.
Russia (under Putin and his kleptocrats) cannot coexist with a budding slavic democracy next door, the kleptocrats know their days would be numbered.
