Who knows what, if any, the repercussions will be from this. I watched it last night and it did not register at all - but from the clip you can see some of the panel was not impressed.

I used to like Maclean's counterpoint to Don Cherry in the early days of Coach's Corner - but their act grew tired over time.

I really did not like Maclean throwing Cherry under the bus at the end and found his bit on the next Coach's Corner after Cherry's dismissal to be smarmy, self serving, servile, ass kissing drivel.

Maclean tries way too hard to be the smartest guy in the room and often makes pointless references in an attempt to show how much he knows about hockey and the connections he has to hockey's legends.

I don't like him either...Ron McLean is an overly self-righteous guy...he likes to drop names like minor coaches/parents to give the viewer the impression that everything is personal to him.

It's like he over-does everything so members of various award nomination committees notices at how 'awesome' he is.

I still remember him as that drunk at bars in the Oakville/ Burlington scene in the mid 90's that would put up a stink when he was cut off. Yeah that guy.

But still I enjoyed his between periods banter with the irascible Cherry. There were some really golden live TV moments there. And there appeared to be mutual respect.

Then Don does his infamous ''You people'' speech and the sh#t hits the fan. McLean then reveals his inner weasel self by claiming it all slipped by him and distancing himself from Cherry while taking a healthy gulp of wokeness.

He's just a shape shifter of the highest magnitude........Let's see how he squirms himself out of this one. He's not the champion of the people that he claims to be. This is obvious.

Strombo shouldn't be doing HNIC, he's not a hockey guy, if that's the way they wanted to go give the job to Rick Mercer...I bet the outrage wouldn't be there if David Amber was given the full-time gig.

Don Cherry became a ignorant racist queen with his "you people" comment. Without the Indian Auxiliary Units, his precious "Rule Britannia" would have gotten their asses handed to them in Burma by the Japanese. India's role in saving "Empire" has never been fully acknowledged. Then in gratitude, the British did all they could to devolve the Sub-Continent into Civil War, as India gained independence. It's Indian prerogative if they choose not to wear a poppy.

I don't have a problem with Ron McLean justifying his job, most of us would do the same. Yet he should have censured Cherry when he had the chance. He had nothing to lose, instead he chose to remain his lackey by agreeing with him. For that he's disposable.

Don Cherry could have been fired 30 years ago...he reminds me of Trump, he’s arrogant, they both think they’re bigger than they really are.

McLean didn’t have to say anything on the Sunday night broadcast, he took the first opportunity to save himself...
