Not only was Robin Williams a comic genius he also had the gift of athleticism, in Insomnia he did his own stunts.
Someone posted a link to his high school and college photos. He was quite the athlete and a scholar.

I was completely shocked (as were we all) by William's suicide yesterday, so I was googling around to see what I could read and there is quite a bit on his financial distress, largely due to his divorces and 2 ex wives on the payroll plus a massive divorce settlement with Wife No.2
I'm sure that there were many issues at play with his decision to end his life. I'm guessing that feeling insecure about his financial situation was a major part of the equation. Some people are totally fine with dealing with insecurity as to where they will be sleeping. Others need the security of house and home, a place to retreat to. Home. Take that all away and their greatest fears are realized.

I'm sure he had assets worth well into the millions, but having liquid cash is a different thing.A psychologist explained on TV that people with depression of chemical imbalances which give them 'narrow vision' when it comes time to solving problems - ergo, suicide.
Cocaine can fuck you up too.
So it may not necessarily be the wives (many people here wish they had a net worth of millions after a settlement, although cash equalizations can mean mortgage financing if you don't sell off everything).
I agree. Cash equalizations mean either mortgage or sell-off.I'm sure he had assets worth well into the millions, but having liquid cash is a different thing.
EX No. 2 (who was his kid's nanny for Christ's sakes way back when (he left his first wife for her)) soaked him for 30 million plus alimony (which was probably millions per year as well)
For him to come up with that kind of dough meant he probably had to liquidate a pile of assets (or hand them over to her)
Either way, the divorce laws are fucked up. Completely antiquated.
He was an american icon. It had more to do with american pride.Really? Obama leads his tribute? I liked the guy but, people around the world are dying of war and diseases. Some American millionaire commedian kills himself over drug and alcohol, the president honors him? Gimme a break.
I wonder with Robin Williams now being dead, does that end her alimony payments as well?? I assume most of Williams estate will go to his current wife and kids, that probably doesnt leave much for his ex-wife does it??I'm sure he had assets worth well into the millions, but having liquid cash is a different thing.

Like I said, I liked the guy for his acting, loved his movies. But the way he ended his life, is nothing to be proud of.He was an american icon. It had more to do with american pride.
This guy was like the Elvis of comedy.

I would think so.I wonder with Robin Williams now being dead, does that end her alimony payments as well?? I assume most of Williams estate will go to his current wife and kids, that probably doesnt leave much for his ex-wife does it??
I am proud of the way I live my life. And good try to change the subject. I don't care how great someone is. If he commits suicide let alone abuses drugs and alcohol, I have no respect for him period. As if he cared to be proud of the manner in which he chose to end his life...
Are you proud of the way you live your life? You seem to be pretty humourless and mean spirited. I am curious why.
Selfless charity? Suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do. No amount of goodness can negate evil of suicide. I was really hoping it wasn't suicide, maybe a murder setup to look like suicide or something.I agree, everyone should ONLY talk about war and diseases.
How insensitive for anyone, least of all "Obama" to say a few kind words about someone who brought so many laughs and smiles to so many millions of people. A "millionaire comedien" who was notable for his selfless charity as for his ability to make us laugh.
If your presence on TERB is any indication, I can say with reasonable confidence that this is not something you will have to worry about upon your passing. Maybe time to become likable?

This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have absolutely no understanding of mental illness, none whatsoever! :frusty:Selfless charity? Suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do. http://comicbook.com/blog/2014/08/12/watchmen-joke-goes-viral-after-robin-williams-death/Yesterday, the world lost the great actor and comedian Robin Williams to apparent suicide following a long struggle with depression.
As is often the case in tragic situations, many of Williams’ fans find solace and comfort in art. Many are re-watching some of Williams’ films and stand-up specials to remind themselves of what a great performer he was in life.
For many though, the tragic irony of a man who made his living making others laugh dying from depression has reminded them of a joke from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal graphic novel Watchmen.
The joke goes like this, as recounted by Rorschach in the original comic book series:
Man goes to doctor. Says he’s depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, “Treatment is simple. Great clown, Pagliacci, is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up.” Man bursts into tears. Says, “But doctor, I am Pagliacci.”
