explains the case of Fleming. V Ontario, which found that police cannot arrest someone not breaking the law to prevent an anticipated breach of the peace by others. Ezra was arrested last week to prevent Hamas activists from attacking him and other Jews.
Tensions are already high at Bathurst & Sheppard as Ezra Levant’s contingent challenging police “breach of the peace” deployment clash on the same side of the street with pro-Hamas (etc.) counter protesters of the pro-Israel rally on the other side of the street (yeah, it’s getting complicated).
Pro-Palestine protesters made a custom sign commemorating Rebel News founder Ezra Levant’s arrest for breach of the peace last week. You're entitled to your opinions, no matter how wrong or off the mark they might be.
First, I never said Israel was doing anything out of the blue. But the reality here is that they were close to a possible peaceful solution back in 1995 until an ultra conservative Israeli assassinated PM Yitzhak Rabin who was pushing a two-state solution. Since then, it has been an eye for an eye and increased repression on the Palestinians. They've vastly and illegally increased their territory in the West Bank, displacing thousands of Palestinians and breaking international law/agreements.
As I did say, neither side is pure and righteous. They have both done horrible things. They both have blood on their hands. And you cannot pretend that IDF members before and since October 7th haven't assassinated or murdered Palestinians with impunity. And, as I've said, I do not support terrorism at all, and think the way the Palestinians/Hamas have acted likely hurt their population. But, as I said, I understand their anger and militancy.
This is not something that will likely be resolved soon.
Wow, typical conservative who views things in black and white and ignores all the shades of grey. You obviously have your head in the sand when it comes to Ezra and his tactics, or the frustration and anger the oppressed people feel. So, spare me your ad hominem attacks. I know you are incapable of thinking critically about why the police might remove an agitator from a protest. Everyone has the right to say stuff, but sometimes provocateurs need to be removed.
Another historical reality is that if the Arab leaders at the time (1947) had accepted the land offered them and also the right of Israel to exist we would have had peace for the last 77 years.
