I didn't claim proof, but that hiring more cops would bring the over all cost down per man hour.
That is definitely true. I mean, if the work is there, it makes more sense to hire additional officers than to have the existing officers work overtime.

Actually the higher ups have to justify the overtime to their superiors, so the amount is excessive, the reasons have to be pretty solid.
HAHAHAHA Thanks for that. Was good for a laugh. If the police force is like any other public service, there is unjustified or misdiagnosed excess bursting out the seams. You'd be surprised how fragile the excuses can be.

It's no secret among the legal community and Judges that the current crop of constables becoming detectives is atrocious. They can't even do BASIC investigative skills and are so corrupt/stupid that they actually screw up disclosure in some very huge cases. I don't mean complex material either, simple stuff like a proper interview of the victims, proper notes, proper logs etc.
Really? None of my judge friends or crown friends ever say anything like that to me. And I read police notes every week, and I don't see any noticiable change in quality.

You show very little understanding of crime and show a lack of sophisticated thinking. You must be a cop.

Crime rate has been going down throughout North America and the reasons are yet tbd. There are theories but NONE point to more or better policing as conviction rates have been declining rapidly especially among sexual assaults and more severe crime. The cops have nothing to do with declining crime rates. Most economist have pointed to aging demographics, increased abortions (yes you read that right), the evolution of the drug trade at the wholesale level, etc. Very few people except police chiefs who want more $ say it's cops. In fact it's pretty much agreed that the cops are under trained and getting dumber. That's pretty much a known fact among criminal lawyers, crown attorneys and Judges.
Your generalizations are not very helpful. And they don't match the current observations.

For instance VP Biden has gotten himself in trouble for making some remarks on this issue lately, but the idea behind his comments are sound. In some areas in the US where severe budget restrictions have caused cuts in policing crimes rates, particularly murder rates to go up. To suggest there is a consensus that policing plays no role in crime rates is plain old wrong.

Only one small flaw, the police force isn't like any other public service, save perhaps the the fire department.

Damn does this guy blackrock have anything to do at the station? Why not spit shine some shoes?

Quoting "Time Magazine" because it's the first Google link. LMFAO. Just LMFAO. I'm out officer. I don't get paid to sit on my ass all day and I actiually have a life so sorry can't debate you for the next 10,000 post.

The reality is:
1) Cops are getting dumber, poorly trained
2) they cost us tax payers too much
3) we could cut any force by a 1/3 and you'll see no increase in crime

blackrock13, are you a cop? Did you see the sunshine list? You must be a cop and on the sunshine list, as your comments are getting a little personal.

hahah just kidding... What if I'm right?

Watch out guys, the cops can trace-route all your IPs and find out where about you all live and your identity.
Post that sunshine list Kenpachi. Post a reference to your statistical claim. I'm curious. Thank you.

Even when a real lawyer with actually hands on exposure to the legal system, told you more politely that you're full of shite.

Where did you get your pie-in-the-sky information? You have yet to offer any competent references to support any of your pontifications.

The fact that the article was run in Times Magazine doesn't make it wrong. I suspect it has a better reputation in the world than you do.

So what if it was first in 'your' search. If it showed you're full of shite, then so be it. Do you know how a search engine work?

Once more, as in past threads, and pointed out by other members, you've been shown at best to be an idiot, at worse a bad liar.

I don't get paid to sit on my ass either, but you wouldn't know that either. I have to walk the neighbours dog and feed their budgies.

No he's not.

The word you are looking for is sychophant: a self seeking, fawning servile parasite flunky
It seems you've learned a new word in class this week and now want to drop it in every conversation you can. I guess it's better than standing by and let others take action when something terrible is happening. I mean you wouldn't want to get involved and actually do something helpful for your fellow beings. You're too important, at least in your own mind, to actually get involved

Just to warn you not to look too hard for "…sychophant" as it's actually spelled 'sycophant'.

Spekllig's one reson I've always preferred to use 'toady'.

I let that drop in your other post.

Just because I said that just because everyone doesn't know that you can call a division by calling 808-5200 etc and that I pride myself on not needing to call the police often does NOT mean that I do not get involved.

In fact I have three direct letters of commendation and thanks from three separate units within TPS, and two others, once with RCMP and one with OPP.

And I have more than a few friends who are also in law enforcement at every level.

It's just that I don't think I need to either brag about it, or excuse the few bad apples or the Blue Wall that protects them.

If you want to suck and rim blindly, then have at it.

But don't presume to know what others have done or haven't.

Nice dance. Suck and rim?

So now you've not called 'often' and not found the 'need' to call the police, but you have gotten involved. So why the weak attempt at chiding others who know 'how' to do it properly. I said nothing of my doing anything, just that I knew how, but you took it as bragging. I didn't presume anything, just repeated what you posted.

Congratulations on the commendations from those 'crooks'(others words, not mine). They don't hand those out like party favours.

Actually I read numerous studies. As I said, no one knows for sure why crime rates fell but in cities where police remained the same or were decreased (Cincinnati , Los Angles etc.) crime rates are still falling. The studies I find the most interesting are the ones that show the reality of Giuliani's New York explosion of cops on the road. They had to UNDER report crime because his "tough on crime" policy actually INCREASED crime. It decreased petty crime like pissing in the streets and street prostitution but increased larger crime 2 fold. Look it up officer. You look like you have a lot of time on your hands. Or you can cite your police manual where it states "Police are under trained uneducated Gods that need $$$$$ , donuts and less hours to function". Quote some of that shit.
These numerous studies that you read is that during your shifts working behind the counter at Rabba, Tim Hortons, or in the coffee room of the garda security office where you work for 10.25 hourly because TPS turned you away. Instead of quoting American propaganda find Canadian information.

There are bad cops, there are stupid cops, there's no argument against that; however, there are certainly more honourable cops than not. Without ranting about their lack of education which isn't true or the money they make, tell us truly what you issues with cops are because it really appears this is a deep-rooted traumatic situation that you are going through.

Jealously is not a good quality.

We have more police than we need. The crime rate is going down by itself.

I still do not understand why Ford did not go after the police department and the fire department to make drastic cuts.

We really do not need so many police and fire fighters.
There is mandated requirements for the number of front line officers required for the population of all cities and towns.

Are you that naive to claim there is no need for the numbers of cops and firefighters and there is a need for more paramedics. You make these claims but I wonder what you would say if you needed a service and nobody came.

Simply, if Fordie cut funding to the TPS, no cops would have been able to tend to his BOGUS 911 call that he didn't even remain at home for.

There is one thing that does bother me greatly and that is so many officers, firefighters, medics, nurses that work in the GTA live outside of it, but this occurs in every business within the GTA. I believe it's the COLA and general safety and services that lack in the GTA.

Rocco_s, Rocco's revenge, Trudat can you discuss this in a civil manner?

Yes I am aware that they are significant. And for more reason than I'd go into here. I have also been responsible for surveilling five drunk drivers in my life after notifying police and who were subsequently arrested.

I know all the right numbers to call.

But this is not about me. It is about you saying that Mayor Ford is somehow deficient as Mayor not knowing the direct numbers to call police and using 911.

(Aside from that I think he was a big fat suck for calling 911 anyways. I also think he is a big fat liar for saying it was dark, and invoking the claim he feared for the safety of his 5 year old daughter when a 22 Minutes micwas put in his face.)
Fixed it for you dude! Don't count on Fordie or the Star to spell correctly. It's not like you to make two spelling errors in the same thread!:thumb:

Aren't you the little whiny bitch that goes ratting to the mods when someone calls you out? Aren't you the guy all the escorts complain about being a weirdo and ummmmm......well you know. You sure talk tough for a little wee weirdo who cries "bullying" everything someone calls the little wee guy out.

Go run little boy. I am sure you have 911 on speed dial in your "hood". Little rat bitch,.

Much of that is correct.

To take it further, there are salaried firefighters who live in the country, not in the metro areas they serve and have responded to volunteer Firefighter calls because it's their neighbours and community. They get shit from their command/politicians/bureaucrats for doing so. It happned in Ottawa and Kingston. The FFs politely, or maybe not, said stuff it, they are our friends and neighbours. It still causes tense times in the firehalls.

Pot, kettle, black MBW and we all know it.

Do you have a cell phone? Chances are it has 911 on speed dial, unless it's a pekkerhead brick special. many home have or should have it also.
