The owner of the Kingsway told us they did not want guests that were going to be involved in certain "activities". They claim to be a "family" property. Is this a case of saying one thing but doing another?

I have used the Kingsway a couple times for a "couple hours" with no questions asked and cash deal. Maybe it was an employee rather than the owner, but i got the impression that it was the wife (owner)

Days Inn near Clifton Hill is a decent place, although I have never been in the hot tub rooms. It is notable that the elevators are directly across from teh registration desk and there is no lobby. So, probably not a good idea for SPs to enter the place in their mini skirts and CFM boots!

PHONE NUMBER BLOCKING:

don't know if this should be a new thread but since it was brought up about front desks, anyone ever try to phone out and had the number they were trying to call be blocked? I know the Renaissance doesn't block (I've called Diamonds & Natalies).

I stayed in the Radisson in Mississuaga and the number to Toronto Girlfriends was blocked. That sucked because I had to drive 15 minutes before I found a payphone (my cell doesn't work in Canada & if you haven't noticed since everybody has a cell phone now, pay phones are becoming more scarce). Luckily Muddy from Toronto Girlfriends let me confirm over the payphone. Some agencies may be picky about that (due to the SP's safety).

If you are talking about the former Park Plaza on Lundy's Lane that is now the Rodeway, that is the worst place I have stay ANYWHERE!
I was actually referring the the Park Plaza Hotel at 5807 Ferry Street. Off Season rates are $59 Standard w/Queen and $69 Jacuzzi w/Queen.

I've also stayed at the Rodeway Inn on Lundy's Lane near Montrose and had a nice room in the back section the first time and a lousy room in the front section the last. I believe I paid something like $55 CA included all taxes. I doubt I would go back.

I also see that you can get a Jr Jacuzzi Room w/King for $59.95 at the Imperial Suites.

The big question....is it worth spending the extra $20-30 if you're only using the room a few hours????????????

The Voyageur Inn on Lundy was the worst place I have ever been to.

This place was terrible - They provided
a room that was barely heated(at first he told me the heat was off and I would have to wait for it to heat up) no phone (but the desk man wasn't sure if it did.) two towels you could see through and sand wood with,no wash cloths, no trash can, no drinking glasses, Stained bedspreads and the room was just plain dirty.

The room was 40 Cash, and he wanted a card filled out, but at least he didn't care what name you put on it.

I would not reccomend this place to anyone

Thought of passing this info along, since a friend reported having similar experiences with lack of heat here.

Kingsway

Have used the Kingsway numerous times since last summer and have never had a problem there, when asking for a room for just 1.5 to 3 hours. Though if you show up late at night, you get the room overnight as they don't have cleaning staff working late to make it available for someone else. Perhaps the previous owner (a nice lady) would clean the rooms herself, but the new owner (in the last 2 months?) seems to only use a cleaning staff. He seemed to be aware of why the rooms are being used.

Expect to pay $35-$40. $35 in the afternoons, but $40 in the evenings, and for an overnighter on Friday or Saturday it may be a little higher than that, especially when the summer peak season starts.

Kingsway Motel

I used the Kingsway this week and got clipped $50 ($45 plus tax) for a room that was barely large enough to fit the queen size bed. This was my first visit there this year and the first since the new owner took over. The only plus was not having to fill out a card. I didn't mind paying $30-35 last year but $50 is way too steep. A flat $40 would be more in order.

If I stay overnight in the Falls, it's not such a problem as there are plenty of excellent hotels where you can get a nice room with a jacuzzi in the $60-80 price range. But for these afternoon adventures, paying $50 is nuts!

There are tons of motels in the Falls, so might as well just drive around (if you have time) and price shop until you get a $30 - $40 rate in the afternoon, and perhaps ask to see a room before paying.

Or try to be tougher with the new owner at the Kingsway and tell him you're only paying $35 in the afternoon, as that's what you used to pay, and then be willing to walk away if he says no.

Last October I used the Days Inn on Lundy's, and they only charged $29.95 + tax. I just said I wanted to use their pool, and needed a room for a few hours. A few weeks ago their overnight rate was only $44 + tax. Now I see it's up to $53 + tax (I checked for this Tuesday April 6th).

Tropicana Inn on Lundy's Lane

This place is absolutely terrible.

It's pretty much right next door to Seductions.

First, the desk clerk was an overly defensive, untrusting jerk who asked for ID and wrote down my driver's licence number.

Then, upon having taken my money, said to me "no parties or anything alright?"

When I get to my room - it's a pigsty. I notice flies everywhere. The room was the TV-cliche of a sleazy motel. The walls and carpet were heavily stained. The sheets and blanket were rough and not very clean. The place was disgusting. After noticing my 4th insect in the room I decide this is enough and that I am going to ask for another room/my money back/disinfectant.

Sure enough upon me very politely and truthfully conveying my dissatisfaction with the room I get looked at like I am trying to sue them. One of the employees takes me up to an alternate room and spends the whole time saying "Show me cockroaches. Where are cockroaches? Where are cockroaches? Where?" in defiant, abrasive, broken English.

With no other options at this point in the night I settled into the marginally better room.

The next morning when I asked the front desk why I couldn't make calls, they tell me "Oh, your phone is blocked."

Charming. Thank you for being such nice hosts.

jazzay...got a room at the Renassaince by the falls on the fourth of july weekend for 35 bucks....all other hotels in the area are charging well over a hundred bucks a night for this very popular weekend.

Ive also stayed at the hojo and arkona on lundy's....but i found the newer travelodge (77__ something) to have very nice rooms. I always ask for a room in the back on first floor so the girl can get dropped off right at your door. No walking thru the lobby.

the tropicana looks bad enough from the outside. lesson learned always ask to see the room first before dishing out the dough.

Here's a useful thread from earlier in the year with info even though it was posted before tourist season rates were in effect.

Added to the list is the Advantage Inn that others rated good,

Advantage Inn
7797 Lundy's Lane
Niagara Falls, ON Canada
Reservations: 1-800-359-4827

Another useful link I came across that lists quite a few motel/hotels is:

www.aroundnaboutniagara.com/index.html

Just go to the city/town your interested in then scroll down to accommodations. List looks very complete.

Advantage Inn

I used the Advantage a couple weeks ago. The owner seemed OK when I called and told him I only needed the room for a few hours. The room was clean and had a nice king bed. Paid $50 and had to scribble name and address on a card. No ID or CC required!
