Thanks for posting this, Mr. Mervyn. So it would seem to me that we're all back at square one. There is and has always been just one short video clip of the Mayor smoking something out of a pipe at a private social gathering in his personal life; and unless Toronto Police Chief Blair has changed his position from that he's seen the video tapes and there was nothing on them that warranted any criminal charges against Mayor Ford, then that would leave whatever else the Crown has for prosecution. I haven't heard anything about wiretaps. I wonder if this is an accurate and reasonable view to hold at this time on this case...? Sincerely, Jon .
'Bump' ( ... isn't that what's said here in computer land? ) Do I need to be updated on any current facts on this case? Any imput would be welcome. Thank you. Sincerely, Jon .

Ford has admitted to drinking and driving, as well as eating cats.
And he's called a lot more people liars and threatened to sue a lot more people.

Other then that, I think you really should buy some more Rob Ford t-shirts and go visit chief Blair to ask him to take it easy on crackheads.
They're under a lot of stress you know, and they can't change what's in the past.

Even if he is criminally charged he can't be removed. Heck even if he is convicted he can't be removed. The only was he can be forced out of office is when he actually goes and serves jail time. Read about it today.
The only way he is going anywhere is if he resigns. Crazy thing is if he does stop the partying and such, eventually the press will move on. I don't know if he will last that long but man if he does I wonder what the hell is actually going to get done at city hall over the next year.

Have any criminal charges been laid against Mayor Ford?
If your assertion is that simply because he hasn't been charged with any crimes, then that means he has been an exemplary mayor and his conduct, both admitted and alleged, shouldn't be held against him, then you have an incredibly low standard of conduct for a public official.

Wynne can remove him via a vote in the Ontario legislature, but she doesn't want to. Council cannot remove him.

Council can strip a lot of his power and then try and work around him, which is I guess what they will do.

Latest: Ford appears to have tried to physically assault Minnan Wong in council chambers after Minnan Wong introduced a motion in council asking that Ford step aside

Twice Ford physically charged across the floor, fists clenched, to try and physically intimidate Minnan Wong. Twice other councillors, both times women, intervened to physically separate Ford from Minnan Wong.

And yes the Star has video lol.

Ok. Again. In fairness. There wasn't a "charge". He walked over. At no time were his fists clenched. He did look pretty angry. But I don't see assault anywhere. Childish standoff yes. But not asssault.
Dinnan-wong isn't coming out of this that much better. He looks like a scared kid. Not a leader.

The council at this point needs to get on with business. Thiese motions will go nowhere.

She won't step in. The last think any of them want is any sort of recall mechanism. It could very easily turn around to bite them on the ass.

Caught a snippet of today's headline and it says she'd need agreement from the other party leaders.

They are debating a motion to remove Ford from the executive committee, and transfer his powers and some of his staff to the deputy mayor. They may also slash his office budget. Once they do all that they will indeed get on with business.

She won't want them accusing her of being undemocratic, so it makes sense that she would take action only if it has all party support.

Substitute council chambers for a grassy field. Substitute Denzi for Daniel Dale. Substitute Ford for well, Ford and whadda ya got.

Fair enough. But I doubt anyone has ever really been charged under this law unless its been a continuous thing.

And maybe you should send this to the press camped outside various parts of city hall.

And not defending the Mayor. But some of this stuff is really becoming petty. Council is really looking childish overall.

Ford has apologized to Minnan Wong.

Apologized unintentionally, but Nunziata (who is chair) accepted the apology and shut off his microphone. She had asked him to apologize and he was ranting on saying he had nothing to apologize for. At some point he said, "I'm sorry but..." and she shut off his microphone and said apology accepted. Council erupted in laughter, Ford tried to continue yelling but no-one could hear him.

The press has a lawful right to be there and engaged in a lawful activity and are not compelling anyone another person to abstain from doing anything that he or she has a lawful right to do, or to do anything that he or she has a lawful right to abstain from doing, which does not appear to be the case with Ford in his confrontations with Denzi and Dale.

I did note when he attampted to escort his wife out the press blocked the way. I believe Fuji mentioned some scuffling went on.
Look, I've dealt with crowd control before. During TIFF. I'm seeing the press "pressing" a bit too much. I also noted the ones following the Mayor's wife to the parking garage continued to go after her after she requested they stop. She has NOT been a public figure in this nor has made statements. The story is there from many sources at this point.
The media circus has stopped tours due to safety concerns. That's the media they are afraid will cause an issue. They can be there. But I little respect for what is a public space is in order. From both the Mayor and the press.
