Metropolitan basically just means downtown and elite/expensive.

Toronto already has a downtown university that is elite and expensive. U of T is like 7 blocks away.

The name they came up with is meaningless and just desperate not to offend. What is Ryerson about? What
does Ryerson stand for? Apparently, it's about being located in downtown Toronto. That's it.

Anything else would have eventually come back to haunt them again. So generic is fine. It ends anymore controversies.

Its not like U of T, York, and numerous other world wide universities aren't generic place names as well.

Damn! I was hoping for Cunt-licker College.
(Also my first choice for the name change by Cleveland Indians-Cleveland Cunt-lickers)

What a horrible name for a great University with a well deserved reputation.
Is it really considered a great university? It hasn't even been an actual university very long.

Does it rank highly in surveys? How many world class programs do they have. My impression is that their journalism program is good. Anything else?

Should have called it Mel Lastman U. Oh wait.

Up next, Wilfred Laurier University.

And while they're at it, Pierre Elliot Trudeau AirPort.

Residential schools were going full tilt under PET and he refused to ever apologize for anything. God love him.
