Why in the world would you trade him? One below average (for him) 1/2 season?

Total dumb ass suggestion. Maybe we should also try and improve upon Tavares and Matthews and Marner. Why not Andersen as well?
Despite Reilly not being up to last season's high level he is on track for 50 points, but was down in goal production. there has been media speculation that he is playing with an injury but who knows.

Pairs make the top 2 lines. Matthews/Marner, Tavaras/Nylander. I would say Nylander gives that added element on the PP which now makes it dominant. They don't even need him to carry the puck in since they have Matthews and Marner to do it. He is strong on his skates. Has great edges and can accelerate out of sharp turns rather than stop. Defenders can't get him. He can stick handle unlike Kapanen. He's smooth as silk out there. Now it looks like he's applying himself.

50 points would be quite the accomplishment. I'm surprised he's on this pace considering Barrie is now taking on 1st PP duties. Imagine what the Leafs D would look like if Rielly was injured. For what he brings and the contract he's on right now he is tremendous value.

Boston is the only team with more overtime losses than regulation losses.

Under Keefe the Leafs have been playing the kind of hockey that were expected of them at the start of the season. I didn’t think the coaching change was a good decision but the way they’ve been playing now is proving how wrong I was.

Gradually the Leafs have added a bit more size. Mikheyev, Engvall, Spezza, are big guys that can play. Marchment has also been called up and he can bring some grit that the team needs.

I really like the in game adjustments Keefe makes and how the players respond. He called timeout when the team seemed disoriented, he put Matthews and Marner together when they’re desperate for a goal, he benched Nylander when he was floating in a game after he scored a couple the game before. These are just some examples of how well the players responded to his coaching. Let’s just hope this trend continues.

The soft schedule might have contributed to their success. The next few games are tougher tests and we’ll see how the Leafs do against better teams.

Well, if you think so, but I wouldn't go that far. I think that they should shop Marner for a top dman and Riley for a back up goalie and a second round pick, maybe a minor.

So I was right George.

Putting William on Tavares's line did smarten him up. The Portugesh is more intense than AM, William can't take a shift and schlep about, he'll hear about it. Let's hope it continues.

Right about what?

Tavares is Canadian (Mississauga born).

Question: with Trump doing his best to start World War 3 in an effort to save his presidency, is Austin Matthews eligible to be drafted into their military?
He can stay in Toronto and dodge the draft. Of course he'd miss about 30 games.
