It's time(right now!) for Dubas to show his managerial brilliance. Leafs need a point shot(left or right), a back up goalie and a good defenseman and a solid dman with balls who knows how to block shots and dig out the puck. He can get them by shopping Marner and Rilley.
Shanahan should immediately fire Dubas and Keefe and hire you and RockyDarts to save the franchise from extinction.

i think jcpro is right about something... this team, with very few exceptions, dont show enough heart, commitment, willingness to play 60 mins. florida pushed them around all night. its great you have matthews, marner, fred when he,s on, and bill nylander, but if you dont have any push back...

Typical ridiculous, from out of left field spin on your part, as I said no such thing.

I am saying that if you think getting rid of Marner and Rielly will improve the team, then you are the only one. Not only are they young and talented, but they are both players with very high quality of character. I'd trade Matthews before either of those guys.

Please show us an article or video clip of a respected analyst/journalist proposing getting rid of those two. Are you the poster who said that Marner has no vision of the ice? I don't remember who it was.

You're a funny, funny vegetable. I never said get rid of them, I proposed to shop them to fill the holes. Btw, the experts had a "consensus" about this team- it was incredibly talented bunch that was going places.

What? You thought that I just meant dump them for nothing? Talk about being a funny vegetable.

And which players do you suppose that the Leafs will get back better than those two? As I suspected, there is nobody but you proposing this approach of trading Marner and Rielly.

Come now. Marner has tremendous up side and not many faults. Rilley is a defensive liability as a pure d-man, but has a great value as a Larry Murphy type player and might be a key to a right roster with already established defensive system. Surely Dubas can make a packaged deal to acquire parts the Leafs sorely miss. Look, something needs to be done and it needs to be done now. You want Dubas wait for the trade deadline, with his cap space?

Leafs currently 13th in the overall standings. Not yet a real cup contender.

Hutch played like he did earlier in the year. Leafs give him a good lead and he plays like a minor leaguer. That second goal he gave up when he pushed it out to the opposition player was a panic move. Good goalies would try to snag it in and cover it. The goal from behind the net is just bad technique, awareness and reading the play. Which we all know Hutch is deficient in. How convenient Bullitt chimes in first chance he gets when Hutch blows one again. No one expected him to play like George Vezina for every game here on in for the rest of his life. Every goalie has bad games. Even good and great ones. Hutch has more of them. He is a backup after all. Probably more so an AHL goalie. Leafs tried to replace him to start the season so certainly they knew what they had in him.

With Hutch in net Leafs needed to pot 4 goals. They didn't do that. They only got 3. Matthews hitting the post would have been 4. Quite possibly would have made the difference. Leafs gave up 3 shots in the 2nd period. They played a great game. Aside from Hutch.

So, with their playoff hopes fading, who can they trade and live without in future? I'd say Nylander, Kapanen, Johnsson, and Hyman are prime candidates who could bring reasonable return for some deeper veteran experience that could change the tone in the room, but with shrewd moves wouldn't necessarily cripple the team this year or in future.

Knowing Dubas, none of them are being moved. Still, a lot of hockey to be played.

Playoff hopes are fading? Mmmmkay.

The Maple Leafs are 2 points out of 8th in the conference, tied for 3rd in their division, with 29 games to play.

It depends largely on the health of Andersen. If he can recover quickly and play like we’ve seen he can, they’ll have a good chance. This team is built to be very good in regular season because majority of teams are mediocre. Whatever problems they had before had more to do with something between the players and Babcock. Under Keefe they’ve shown they can win their fair share of games. Andersen can mask the deficiencies on defence and gives his teammates the confidence they need for a young team.

Face the facts. They've played 4 games since the break and already lost one. Oh, and they outplayed Florida in the loss. So they are definitely fading.

I hope that clarifies it for you.

George mocked Wick for saying the Leafs hopes are fading. You then quoted George and said that Wick was talking about Montreal. I did not understand where that came from and quoted the names that Wick was throwing around. They were Leafs, not Habs.

Hence, the "huh".
