Possibly but when they expanded the menu to offer so much stuff they should have then. You go for lunch and it's easily $10

j/kTimmy's and McDonald's have MasterCard Paypass contactless readers to speed up the transaction. Don't know why I have to use debit card as a method of payment.
BTW, McDonald's accepts Amex card too. Don't recall somebody really loaded to buy a McDonald's coffee by swiping a Centurion Card or one of those premium Charge Card.
Leicester66, if you have had such negative experiences at Timmies, why not go to Second Cup, Timothy's or Starbucks, or perhaps one of the smaller independent coffee shops (there is this one place called the Mocca Choco, on the corner of Dundas and McCaul, right across from the AGO that I've been to once, a nice decent place).
Did just that. Some of the coffees at the independents are good but McDonald's is better, both in quality and value for money.
This used to annoy the hell out of me until I figured out that squeezing the two tab holders towards each will make them hold the tab more firmly. Duh.
Re: Debit cards -- Remember, it really hasn't been that long that McDonald's was cash only (a couple of years?)
I've yet to find a coffee shop that can compete in the steeped tea ring with Timmies. I have a little independent coffee house below my condo at home and I like their fancy lattes and brownies (mmm brownies).

Thus, I walked to another 2 McDonald's to get additional free coffee.
2x small McDonald's coffee= 1 extra large at McDonald's= 1 large "rip-off" crappy coffee at Starbucks/Timmy's
