I would like to see the Yankees and Tigers meet in the next round.
In the NL a Cincy vs Cards series would be alright with me.

Cincinnati winning the WS would be fine. Votto WS MVP.:thumb:
Well so much for that idea.

I must have seen 800 million "Texas Leaguers" in my life and only one was ever called an "infield fly". Guess the other 799.9 million were called wrong.

The S--t will hit the fan in New York if the Yanks lose to-day. Imagine paying all that money and they don't make it to the league final. I don't like the Yanks because they remind me of that son of a rich father in high school who gets all the girls because money.

Can someone explain how the new MLB playoff system works:confused:? I heard there are now one game elimination matches.
It helps to have the terminology correct. In MLB a "playoff" is when two clubs are tied with the same number of regular season wins and it is necessary to break the tie. A playoff game is considered to be part of the regular season.

After the conclusion of the regular season (and any playoff if necessary), the "post-season" begins.

That was a wild one tonight.

Tigers/Yankees had it all going on! What's Jeter's status?

Loved it. I want more of that Baseball.

Painful loss for the Yankees, and I'm not talking about losing game 1. With Jeter out for 3 months, and A-Rod getting paid $30 million a year to strike out 3 times a game it's not looking good for the most famous and successful sports team in professional sports.

Cano is also not hitting his weight, Verlander will pitch game 3 and game 7 if necessary.

There won't be a game 7, and the Tigers don't even need Verlander to shut down this Yankees team. Fister did a pretty good job last night. I'm wondering if the Yankees will send A-Rod down to the minors where he belongs, making 30 million a year he'll make more than all of the minor league players combined.

Careful with that statement...

...certainly amongst an elite group but by no means any sort of title holders.

Actually, the New York Yankees hold the record for the most championships in the history of all North American professional sports leagues. They have 27 world series championships, in second is the Montreal Canadians with 24 Stanley Cup wins, and in third is the Boston Celtics with 17 NBA championships. The NY Yankees are the real deal.

Thank you for pointing out the category they belong in...

All 4 remaining MLB teams have very long storied histories. Remember when the San Francisco Giants used to be the New York Giants and Willie Mays patrolled centrefield at the old Polo Grounds? At the same time Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider patrolled centrefield for the other two New York teams.

Can you tell us stories about the Tigers and Cards as well uncle RS? Pleeease?
The Cards. The Gashouse gang. 30 game winner Dizzy Dean. For a long time, they were the most westerly team. Most recently, the great Bob Gibson. Tomorrow, I'll tell you some great Tiger stories.

Cardinal players have won the batting triple crown 3 times. Can you name two of them?

Did you know that Roger Connor who held the record for most career home runs before Babe Ruth hit most of them playing for the Giants?

Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers was the first player to win the batting triple crown since 1967. In 1968 Denny McLain (31-6) of the Tigers was the last pitcher to win more than 30 games. Will any MLB pitcher ever win more than 30 games again?

Ty Cobb of the Tigers won 12 batting titles. Who won the next most batting titles?
