Can someone explain how the new MLB playoff system works? I heard there are now one game elimination matches.

The two wild cards in each league play a one gamer to advance to the divisional round.

AL
NY wins East
Detriot wins Central
Oakland wins West

Baltimore at Texas, winner to play the Yankees.

and his arm went up late. bad call and an even worse play on the Cards part. If the ball is caught the runners remain at 1st and 2nd and no one notices or cares about the call.

I agree with that, and don't care who wins it all, just as long it's not the Cardinals!! I am sick of them winning the whole thing with sub-par teams!

Totally agree. I despise the mediocre Cardinal team that won it 2011 just as much as I loathe the weak Giants team that won it the previous year. Seriously, put our beloved yet flawed Blue Jays in the NL and they would clean house.

In the NL a Cincy vs Cards series would be alright with me.

I don't like how the team with the better record starts on the road. It makes no sense to me.

There are 2 things that I've concluded over the years regarding MLB playoffs/WS. 1.) There is no such thing as home field advantage. Home teams are being beaten soundly and repeatedly. 2.) Why spend big money on star players...teams with no names are winning soundly and repeatedly. The big name/paid hitters are pretty much useless. Yeah I'm talking to you A Rod, Hamilton, Fielder, Cruz, Granderson, et al. Where are the homers?

MLB agreed to alternate each year between 2-3 and 2-2-1 in the Best 3 of 5 Divisional Series.

This was at the request of the poorer teams that were being swept 3 games straight and only had one home game of revenue (not withstanding the revenue sharing formula).
