We're not in Britain.
Even if we were under prior British rule, why in our educational system were we taught the "z" way, hmmm....it's either all British or nothing.
Hence me not caring for the Governor General's position.
I'm waiting for "ENGLISH RULES", to show up and ream me for this...:p

monkey... I apologise. Had a bad day and was unnecessarily rude to you. I still disagree, and you should use spell check, but I apologise for the tone of my comment.
no worries, mate; no apology neccesary. Hence my tongue in cheek response.

Peace!

Ok, after a fair amount of consideration I have finally got the system.
42'' edtv. plasma. hdmi, svideo, vga, hi-def connections. Picture in picture Insignia
XBox 360 Live with Spherex 5.1 surround sound, specifically designed for video games and DVDs. USB updates, optical sound.
And the Logitech Harmony which is amazing!
Connected to my MacMini which is great for surfin' porn on the big screen!
Thanks everyone for your imput and assistance. Cobster and Frankcastle especially for walking me through all of this.

I am looking to get a new TV.

I want it to be big, massive, behemoth. I want it to make grown men cry when they challenge me to a round of Grand Theft Auto.

I want the best of the best.

Yea, I caught that too...so you've basically got a low def plasma...albeit you saved some money...

Then again, just thinking outloud, if you don't plan on getting or are unable to receive HD signals then paying for HD is a waste....so maybe I've answerred my own question? lol ok, it's early, gimme a break ok? :)

It was to save a few bucks. I blew my budget on other things : ( Love this system and really enjoy the sound on this.
Cobster - if you want to see this system you will have to do an outcall to my place ;) Grand Theft Auto or Lego Star Wars???

I'm good for Star Wars lego, got it on the comp, but seeing it on a 42" Plasma would be SICK. :p

I have a friend who works at Sony who told me not to buy a large TV for 3-4 months as there is a much better tv coming out which will be less expensive and have a superior picture compared to anything out now

Hmmm, wondering if this is the LCOS based unit.
JVC has that D-ILA already, but I've been so out of the loop as to the newer stuff.
There was rumor of some paper thin stuff you could literally cut with scissors to your size liking, but doubt it would be cheap.
We'll wait and see.
He didn't mention what it was?
Or did he just say, "stop, don't buy a TV. I have no idea what it is, but it's coming in 3-4months"? lol

Monkey, you upgraded your TV yet ?
Not yet, I've checked around and there is yet to be an HDTV that accepts 1080p input and displays 1080p at the price level I can comfortably afford.

No such thing. In matter of days/weeks, the better BIG TV will be on the market.
There are many FPTV which performance have not been surpassed in the past several years. They do cost beyond $20,000 but they are available (such as Runco 3-chip DLP projector that accepts and project 1080p in all its glory). That damn thing's been around for about 3 years now.
