I think it's come to the point where if you want to berricade yourself in your basement with the lights off and only the glow of your computer monitor to illuminate your room whilst eating C rations under your mask, then no-one is stopping you. That's your choice.
The rest of us want to live out our lives in the sunshine and we've made our decision. We understand the issue and we are wiling to risk it. We're tired of the omni present Chicken Little types who foresee the end of the world in everything and believe that their way is the only way and everyone else should do what they tell us to do.
Frankly, other than the vaccines, I question whether any of it made a damn bit of difference.
You do what you want and I will do what I want. End of story.

All the folks holding on the the legacy mask mandates are like those folks you see on the street with big cardboard signs declaring the end of the world. Lol.
Yeah, I did a completely unscientific test wearing one of those cheap blue Chinese masks that you buy at Costco and demolishing an old plaster wall.
It did fuck all.
My nose was running, my face was dusty and i could feel it in the back of my throat.
I posted that on TERB and was roundly beaten up by various zealots on here stating that I was some kind of a fucking idiot. (That goes without saying.) I remember one poster telling me that COVID was waterbourne etc. My point was exactly like shown in your diagram. That the pores in those dog shit masks make them all but useless if they can't stop a grit particle, how are they going to stop a virus.
Anyway, I wore my damn mask, the cheap dogshit blue ones from Costco. I doubt they did a damn thing. But whatever. Not worth arguing over.
With masking now optional in most places, I've come to notice the decision on whether or not to wear one is largely a social class thing.
If you're in higher-end stores, like the Bay or Sobey's, virtually everyone you see is wearing a mask.
Pop into Dollarama or FreshCo and you'll see that at least half, if not more, are not wearing masks.

Just let the fucking thing run. We have far more serious problems in Canada than fucking Covid. How about massive indebtedness, both public and private, impending demographic collapse, our retarded politicians, and a possible nuclear war with Russia (Yes, it could happen)? How about the legions of homeless, the thousands of young couples stuck in apartments with kids and no possibility of ever buying a house (my children are both in this category)? The businesses that have been smashed, the alcoholism and drug addiction, and worst of all (in my opinion) the spectacle of a supine population sucking down government shit and propaganda? Is that enough? Well, if not, put on your fucking mask and get under your bed and leave the rest of us alone. Like James T. said, we've made our decision.

The fact of the matter is that the Covidians just can't let this go. It's become an OCD to them at this point.
I just got back from 10 days in Orlando, and in the words of the late Gord Downie 'it was like I stepped out of the wilderness squint eyed and confused' Outside of the airport little mask wearing. Everyone having fun, bars and restaurants full. I sat at a bar for the first time in 2 years. The news has very little covid coverage. Hard to come back!

Theres the hospital admission argument right there. Private v Public. Why should they care about hospital admissions. Those with public healthcare had to because the system is always close to collapse and it’s a massive political issue, hence lockdowns etc.
My work college spent a month living in Arizona and reported the same. He’s questioning his future here if the last few years are an indication of the direction of the country. We’ve lost the art of having fun and being liberal. Something Canada was known for.
These masks are not form fitted N95 respirators so that inhaled and exhaled air volumes are forced around the periphery of the mask and not through the pores anyway.
Canada in terms of medical standards generally follows the US lead through bodies like the CDC or the FDA and to the lesser extent the UK and the Lancet. The next variant driven wave will necessarily bring back mandates to Canada by which time Doug Ford who is a “Boss Hog” doppelgänger at times will have another majority at Queen’s Park.
What Florida does is more along the lines of identity politics than Covid-19 control during this pandemic.
With the large amounts of Canadians continuously visiting that state there will continue to be conflicts and contrasts between Canadian and Florida Public Health policies.

You made an assertion that everything looks normal based on your anecdotal observations.
As such I am entitled to ask what admissions to hospitals and ICUs are like to see if they align with what you see.
In all honesty, hospital admissions are a better indication of the state of the pandemic than the less than 1% of the state that you personally observe.
That's what I was saying from the very beginning. BTW, we will not let our guys cut concrete unless they have N95 on the beard free face - because the size of the particles matter and the fine concrete dust is many times larger than the virus. Oh well, I'm just glad this is (hopefully) over.
