Yup - Lisa of Toronto summarized it quite nicely - Leg Lengthening is the male equivalent of Breast Implants.

I'm not saying I condone it or don't condone it.

I was very into this Leg Lengthening idea a year ago - I used to log into makemetaller forums also, all the time...

but i gave up on the idea...

The time it would take to undergo a procedure is long (a year) and the pain it would take is way too much - The money it costs is also too much. Heck it took me 10 years to make 25 grand and I didn't even go to school and I want to go back.

Also, you have to be in a foreign country for a whole year - trusting your safety to a staff of people who don't even speak your language - so you have to be able to learn a few of their words - meanwhile - healthcare systems are usually very bad conditions. Heck, look at our healthcare system. To see a doctor in the emergency ward, you have to wait 8-9 hours minimum in Toronto Hospitals. You think its going to be any better in China or India?! Heck, no. If you call for a nurse in a Chinese or Indian Hospital, it might take longer than 9 hours for them to respond. Can you trust those odds? I know I couldn't.

The risk was just way too high. Sky High. (No pun intended)

But seriously, I agree with the notion that it's a height-obsessed female culture. Everywhere I look - i see girls with guys that are at least 6'3. Its pretty certain that the girls are going after these guys and not the other way around. When asked, a girl said a guy being short is like a girl being fat. I don't know if that's true. But doing more research, I been told by a short dude that he weightlifts like a motherfokker and he's big as fukk - has tattoos all over and takes care of himself and his looks - and he gets checked out all the time by women - Also, lately, I've been getting approached by tall women that are at least 6 ft tall. So its not as grim as it seems to be, for short guys. Height isn't the only equation.

A guy that used to frequent these boards, don't know if he still does, went by the name Hobbit - he said that "there are guys that are 6 ft tall who have trouble hooking up with the ladies" so its not all about height. Height isn't the end all and be all of your attractiveness to women.

but if you must learn about this surgery - not that I condone it.

No, not even close. First, women have legs too, and the differences between leg lengthening and breast enhancement are ridiculous. The correct analogy here would be that hair transplants are the male equivalent of breast implants.

How did you come up with this conclusion?

Since you did not ask for opinions, here is mine: you only live once, if you want to be a few inches taller, go for it. If other people don't understand, it is their problem.

That being said, it sounds like an extremely painful surgery, and such as lengthy process where they are stretching it over a period of time. So if you have it in the third world, you are in a crap hospital for a long time. My approach would be to convince a doctor here that you need it for psychological reasons, so the government must pay for it. The British Army pays for some breast implants on that basis.

I think the tall guys get all the pussy thing is overrated, I am over six feet tall, and still paying.

They will be freaked out when a 5'9" guy comes in for surgery, you could be their tallest patient ever!

The best way to find out what to expect is to track down actual experiences of people who had it, in forums or wherever.

Good luck.

Comment on Lisa's reaction.........

I am 44, 5'5", athletic , white, considered good looking but nothing exceptional. Considered nice guy & have had 5 specific occasions in my life where I & a lady were quite compatable & yet said ladies could not get over the hight thing to feel physically attracted to me. They were all slightly shorter. There is no mistake that a stigma of " short guy" turns ladies off. I always end up with female friends. Adding 4" puts me at 5'9" ...... THAT is a big deal because now I would be average & the stigma of " short guy" will be gone. 2 of the ladies have now been in long term relationships with guys 5'9" /5'10". I know not all ladies must have tall guys ..... but all go for atleast average. NO ladies go around saying they want short or have been turned on by a short guy unless he is SUPER funny or charasmatic..... which I & most are not.

I am.

But what I'd really like is arm-lengthening surgery, so I can look like a monkey and reach things like my drink or the remote from freakishly long distances without standing up.

Well, I've confirmed it by email. I will be going to Serbia to get it done. Only the tibias should be lengthened first, at least 2 inches, though I will aim for 3 inches. I will fly home after a few weeks and do the lengthening myself over the next 2 or 3 months, doing my teaching job in crutches. Then I will fly back there a few months later to get the external device removed.

Then I can consider doing the same with my femurs and gain another 2 inches. In that forum, people have described in diaries going to Serbia and gaining a whole 5 inches in total! This will make me 6'2" in the very end, and no need for SPs any more!!!

Congratulations, do you have a doctor here you'll be working with? Remember, reading the diaries, complications and a high level of pain usually occur when people lengthen too quickly (more than .75mm a day) and try to lengthen over 2-3 inches.

Serbia. You're going to go for surgery in Serbia. Wow. And you honestly think that being 6'2" means "no need for SPs anymore." Good, because you'll be broke and crippled. Have fun, though.

So they'll do the tibias for 8000 Euros. How much is that in dinars? And where do you stay for those first couple weeks? In a Serb hospital? Good luck, comrade.

I'm no anatomy expert, but I do have one question. Will they charge extra for the fibulas?

Dude I ask you to seriously rethink this. First off the whole "proper" proportion thing... what is "proper"? People are different, some have longer legs, some have shorter legs... one isn't "right" compared to the other. Also depending on your background, this proportion thing can vary. For example, asians have shorter legs in proportion to their torso. That is the norm and there is nothing wrong with that.

Also why so you think gaining 2 inches will turn you into a chick magnet? Height might have a factor with girl but if you expect that to be the be all end all in picking up chicks, you might be disappointed.

And Siberia? What happens when you return and have complications? You're gonna fly back every time you need to?

come on dude.

I don't want to be disrespectful at all, but I really think you should consult
a psychologist before such invasive discretionary surgery.

It is nice they have a do-it-yourself kit but what if you have a problem?

Teaching on crutches with both legs healing on crutches. Well you certainly have the right attitude (optimistic) about the surgery/recovery.

I'm 186 cm barefoot, so trust me on this, if you think getting women is going to be incredibly easy once you're tall you might be a little dissapointed. It might be easier, but I see guys shorter than me all the time that are with really attractive women, so I don't think height is as major a factor to women as you think it is.

Height may well be a major factor to women, but not all women. Find one who has no problem with your height. You might not find a 5'10" supermodel to bear your children, but I refuse to believe you can't locate a civilian woman with whom you can build a happy life.

I guarantee, even if this crazy-ass surgery is successful and you come out of it with your two precious inches, you'll find something else wrong with yourself in quick order.

Surgery won't repair a low self-esteem and self-hatred.

I want an extra pair of arms - to giving me a total of four arms. That should make my life easier.

I'm waiting for them to come up with the surgical procedure to achieve this.
