Get it done domestically (Canada or US) or not at all. Travel costs and your ability to go back for subsequent adjustments means you should avoid international places.

But it is a bad idea to do this until 2015 or so while the procedure is still in its infancy. You will be like those guys that got laser eye surgery in the 70's and early 80's. It has a low chance of actually working well until they have done several tens of thousands of procedures to get the bugs out and learn the long term implications.

Your paying way to much for this procedure.

Back in the days of Henry the Eighth, they would toss you in the tower, put you on the rack, and lengthen you for free!

Ya, being 5'5" & ...........

... universally considered by women to be undatable ( as we all know .... no woman says " I prefer a short guy" ) I was seriously considering it ( add 4 ") until I saw the " Short & Male " documentry that showed the pain & lenghth of time for intensive care ( 1 year). Show really shows how screwed short guys are these days.

This isn't the place to ask your question, you're getting a lot of bad information here. The pain isn't bad until you get past 2 inches, then it really depends on the case. If you're willing to spend the money, Dr. Betz (Germany) and Dr. Guichet (France) are your best choices. Otherwise Serbia has Dr. Mitkovic who has been getting great results. There have been no cases of permanent injury with these 3 doctors. Forget China, their techniques are much more painful and there have been cases of long term damage. Check out Make Me Taller, especially the diaries.

watch out for this surgery, be prepared for a long and painful recovery along with riskon complications. Between 1-2 years befroe you will back to "normal" Followup from the surgeon is critical do you want to travel to China to for this? Find a "spinner" instead!

Hey its a free country, we can say what we like. And, you can fuck up your body if you like. I think you're an idiot for doing this, and that's fine. You can still do it. You can ignore us for calling you an idiot, and we can ignore your demand that we stop giving our opinions. So long as the mods don't care, I can call you anidiot quite freely. You are also welcome to tell me to fuck off and mind my business. Its a cool system!

...someone gets it.

It just amazes me how trivial our lives in the west have become, when we have such huge problems of suffering and hunger on this planet.
You don't need surgery you need a psychologist to sort you out.

Don't go to a psychologist. He's not the one that 's fucked up. It's the height-obsessed female culture that is (I don't even think it's this bad in the states). Note to those who want to start sheet--I am not whining I am stating a fact.

Hyperdog, I've changed my mind. If you do go through with this, you need to be commended for having balls of steel. You'll be my hero because of the risks involved to get this reward. But the rewards should be good. Most likely you'll be able to make more money since taller guys make more, and you'll be within consideration of a lot more women, so you'll probably be able to get a much better looking girlfriend. So more money, and better looking women are all but guaranteed, and thus a much better life. I wish you the best of luck.

I love the system. I think hyperdog is foolish for deciding to get the surgery, then asking a board like this to implicitly condone the decision by asking for opinions on price. Why ask us?? Jesus!!

None of us have a fucking clue about the surgical standards in these countries; you have to provide the info in supplemental posts anyway.

I say go to China or Nigeria or wherever, and don't waste any of your good money on shit like anaesthetic or antibiotics.

My latest thoughts are for Egypt, because it is only $15,000 for both legs, stretched 2 to 3 inches, and the doctor has done over 1000 of these over 12 years:

Cairo International Center of Limb lengthening and reconstruction
Leg lengthening surgeries are performed at a new state-of-the-art hospital. The cost is averages $US 15,000. Services include transportation to and from the airport, satellite TV, and Internet access.

Physician:
Dr. Yasser Elbatrawy, General Director
Lecturer of Orthopedic Surgery
Chief of Ilizarov surgery unit at Elzahraa University Hospital
Dr. Elbatrawy received the following training in leg lengthening procedures:
Two years fellowship with Dr. Maurizio Catagni, a pioneer of Ilizarov surgery and the founding member of ASAMI, Lecco, Italy.
One year fellowship with Dr. Paley and Dr. Herzenberg, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
Advanced Diploma in Ilizarov surgery, Ilizarov Institute, Kurgan, Russia.
One year in Ulm, Germany.
Member of ASAMI International since 1996.
Member of ASAMI North America since 1999
Dr. Elbatrawy and his staff have completed over 1,000 successful lengthening procedures since 1996. An FDA approved and CE certified version of the Ilizarov external fixator device is used for the lengthening process.
Dr. Elbatrawy's service is very popular because of good results and low costs. Six people contacted Short Persons Support and reported good to excellent results following surgery by Dr. Elbatrawy. Five of them report that the procedure was performed in an operating theatre with modern medical equipment and that staff are friendly and helpful. The fifth patient reported that the medical staff is terrible, the facility old and run down and pain management is inadequate.
It might be cheaper to have sex-change surgery. Then, find yourself some hot lesbian!

It always amazes me that people will go through invasive and extremely costly surgery to get laid.

If 2 inches is a deal breaker for the women you're trying to date, what you need is not surgery, it's better judgment. Why would you want to date someone for who those 2 inches make a significant difference???

Hyperdog, two questions of major import are: 1) how old are you and 2) what does your primary care physician have to say about all this?

It sounds to me that if you are here on TERB, that it's too late. Life deals us the cards it does - I'm the same height as you, in a family where most of the men are a good three to four inches taller. Would I like to be taller, yes, is it worth surgery, certainly not.

As a mater of fact most North American Orthopedists will not perform leg lengthening for solely cosmetic reasons.

Get a pair of those 'moonboots' and hang upside down in the livingroom for an hour a day. This will surely stretch you out an inch or two.

Ok .... but how about....

for a guy 5'5" , 44 yrs & constantly passed over by women as too short? Cronically single. No way you can say adding 4" is not a huge game changer. At 5'9" I will be seen as average height & not have the stigma of "short" that in women's minds makes a guy unmanly & thus just a chump. Sooo yup looking into it myself. P.S. not surprising many an escort state that most of their clients are short!

I'm 5'6" and up until a few years ago, I never knew I was short (always thought I was average). Probably realized it about the same time I started reading these types of threads on terb. At least now I have something I have no control over to blame my lack of chick magnetism on. :D
