Robertson is not a defenseman. He's a forward and as a forward he made an excellent play.
He took the pass away without sprawling and stayed on this feet.
He forced Been to make a lateral move which allowed Matthews to catch him from behind.
Technically Benn didn't beat Robertson since it was Robertson who took the puck off of Benn for the turnover.
If he was beat the puck would have been out of reach.

Look at the video at 1:10. Benn had him beat. Robertson had attempted to sweep the puck off of his stick, missed and was dead in his tracks. He was lucky his momentum allowed him to swing his stick back around and hit the puck.

I am happy it happened as I was rooting for the leafs, but it was pure luck he broke up the play.

Clifford and Simonds might have lost a step but could provide some push back; the fourth liners there now are not bringing anything of value either.
With both in the lineup the Leafs played with a lot more enthusiasm and intensity. Easily best team game this early season. Both set up the winner and Rielly played the role of an enforcer lol.

Samsonov was both steady and lucky. Two shots that beat him hit the iron; and almost got scored on after coughing up the puck behind the net. There were some juicy rebounds with one led to the first goal. He’s 4-0 so he must be doing something right, an easy early schedule might have something to do with it.

Montreal is not a good team. Leafs lost. Samsonov did not play that game.
Arizona is not a good team. Leafs lost. Samsonov did not play that game.

I didn't see the game last night but 4-1 on the road in Winnipeg is a positive result. And it was good to see Tavares pot a couple. How are we able to do that but lose at home to woeful Arizona? In the two games against Montreal and Ottawa after they beat us, Arizona lost and was outscored by a combined 12-4.

No worries.
If the Leafs can get the same kind assistance from the officials the rest of the season as they did against Winnipeg last night we should easily go undefeated and finish with 80 wins.
The decision making and inconsistency was mind-blowing but we got full advantage and some power play goals.

There are times when watching the Leafs this year that I actually question if they practise together.

‘The refs tonight should be investigated for reaping off the Leafs’ chance of drafting Bedard. The Leafs should have lost in regulation.
That's Keefe's fault. i knew after the Leafs won the challenge they were going to fuck it up somehow.

Fucking turnovers, it's a Danish turnover factory the Leafs are. A high school hockey team can beat the Leafs FFS.

Joking aside, I never had doubt in seasons past (with this core) that they’d miss the playoffs. I just don’t have the same kind of confidence this year. I’m a fan of Marner but with the way he’s been playing Keefe should sit him for one game if he has the guts, but he’s too weak to do that. They better get things straightened out in a hurry or it could get really ugly with a much tougher stretch of games coming up.

The Leafs will probably lose badly like 9-1 (I'm looking at the Bruins game) before things get better.
