Vladdy is not a superstar. Vladdy is nowhere close to players such as Judge and Ohtani etc
That's an opinion. But I'd say that somebody who will probably have the 3rd largest contract in the history of baseball, is most likely a superstar. Stars don't get that but superstars do.

To my point about the Leaf organization.
Maple Leafs fans outraged after season-ticket prices raised | Toronto Sun

This organization is strictly a corporate, old boys country club, watching a game at Scotia is my worst experience of watching any sporting event.
They rape you at the gate, they rape you at the concessions, half empty platinums at the beginning of periods.
Even Ottawa has a better atmosphere.
It's soulless and heartless, and that's permeated down to the team on the ice.
If I was a pro, Toronto would be way down on the list of teams I would want to play for.
Wow, thanks for posting that article!! Basically to go to a Leafs game, it's going to cost you between $600-$700 minimum!!

Well, I have just as much of a right to my opinion, as you do. I'm an avid sports fan, and you don't have a right to "browbeat me", every time I make a sports opinion, that's different then yours.

I won't stop posting my sports opinions, unless a terb mod tells me too. @shack , are you a terb mod by any chance?? Is that the reason you're always "busting my balls"-----LMAO

Nobody said otherwise. I simply said that it was an opinion which implies that it's not fact as you seem to infer.

And I believe that I have the right to state the reasons why I feel that your opinion is wrong. It's equal on both sides. The difference maker is who has more facts/evidence and who uses more conjecture.

That's debatable, about how realistic, you really are....LMAO
A debate about a debate. Gotta love it.

But you admitted that I was being realistic when you pointed out how I used the key words "should be" instead of "will be". I just won the debate about the debate.

Nope, the difference is if Vladdy has a good season, or not?? "Numbers don't lie."

I totally admit, I don't understand all this "salary cap" stuff. What I do know is that the Leafs are trading away a lot their first round draft choices!!
I understand the worry. We've seen how it turns out for them in the end. But Tampa Florida Dallas and Colorado are also doing the same. If these picks end up being bottom 5 who cares but if they're top 5 it's Lindos Niedermeyer Luongo Seguin Hamilton all over again.

Ahh. You should say "the numbers will not lie". So we're still talking opinion. We don't have all the facts.
Exactly, If Vladdy has a good season this yr, I'll be the first person to admit I was wrong about Vladdy. However, if Vladdy has a poor season this yr, then I'll be the first person to be laughing at Vladdy, and how he passed up such a lucrative offer the jays made to re-sign him. If Vladdy has a poor season, no major league team ,will offer him as good a contract, as he could have received presently, before the season starts!!

The worry about giving him a big long term contract is his weight will be an issue and he'll most likely be playing DH at a younger age than Pujos did. Another concern is he only hits when the games don't matter.

The problem is that a specific drafting slot is way less important than having a bunch of picks.
The bona fide superstars aside, it's a real crap shoot and it becomes a numbers game.
If you look at Hockeydb Draft History, it's amazing how few guys make it, even guys that were sure bet prospects.
The one thing that stands out is, the higher the better.
Anything from Round 3 and down is pure gravy.

I think that it's more likely that he will continue to improve his conditioning over the years.

Doesn't matter either way. The Leafs can't draft for shit.

Leafs have a new Director of Amateur Scouting in Mark Leach. He came from Dallas and they have an excellent track record of drafting. Most of their top players on the current team they drafted. Players like Robertson, Johnston, Hintz, Harley (played for Team Canada), Ottinger, Heiskanen. Only Heiskanen was a top level pick. All these players are in their 20's. They also drafted Benn but that was 2 decades ago.
