Actually, he is wrong.
I remember being very disappointed when Liewicki left.Actually, he is wrong.
Liewicki was very good at identifying good executive managers. He selected Ujiri at the same time. It was hardly name recognition. Off the top of my head I can't remember, but he'd made other very good choices.
Nothing Marner won't waive his no-trade clause. The Leafs will run it back with Marner and Tavares for another year.To late, the damage is done. Mitch Marner is not Martin St Louis, what can they get for him?
Surprisingly Lybushkin was the best d man with 3 points and plus 4.For anyone who’s interested, these are the Leaf players stats for this series:

I think a big part of that, is that people know that Tavares will not be part of the future after 24/25 season. Or if he is, he will be not paid much.Surprisingly Lybushkin was the best d man with 3 points and plus 4.
Marner with 3 points and plus 1, Tavares 2 points Even +/-. Yet everyone is dumping on Marner but hardly any criticism on Tavares who is making even more money than Marner and is the captain of the team. Don’t get me wrong, Marner deserves his share of blames but he shouldn’t be singled out as the only culprit.
I get your point, but unless something happens drastically, like going deep into the playoffs next year, I don’t see either one coming back. There’s a slight possibility of Tavares returning at a substantially reduced salary.I think a big part of that, is that people know that Tavares will not be part of the future after 24/25 season. Marner is potentially a core big $$$ piece much longer -- and many don't want that... understandably.
