With Matthews out 7 different Leafs score.
With Mathews in no other Leaf scores.

Auston Matthews is gonna score 70…he might break the Gretzky/Ovechkin career record.
I would lean to the under on that one mostly because he rarely plays a full season. His last full season was his rookie year. Since then he's missed 20,14,12,4 (out of 56),9 and 8 games respectively.
Even if he does play a full 82 game schedule I think he gets anywhere from 63-67 goals, which is still amazing and sets a new career season high.

Nice start tonight Leafs. Sabres were embarrassed Tuesday at home against Columbus. Leafs will get Sabres best game tonight.

Are you kidding me. Kyle Okposo, short handed breakaway from Sabres blue line!! Effin Zamboni could have chased him down. Put a Canadian Goose in the net for Christ sakes!!

It was an embarrassing loss but it didn’t tell me anything that I didn’t already know about this team. In the grand scheme of things there’s no worry about the Leafs’ playoff chances. They’ll make it barring an act of God.

I‘m just curious to see what moves if any Treliving will make to improve the goaltending and defence for the playoffs. Without further additions, there’s still hopes that Woll when he comes back, and Jones can provide better goaltending but if Samsonov is the starting goaltender then there’s no hope for them to go far.

I think Treliving has done a good job in upgrading the bottom pairing guys. McCabe and Rielly have played reasonably well. The one guy that I have concern with is Brodie. He’s a “steady” d man and doesn’t make many glaring mistakes; but for a $5m player I expect more. He’s not particularly strong or physical. He doesn’t contribute much offensively either. I just don’t think the Leafs are getting good value per dollar from his performance.

There's no surprises here.
They lost to Chicago ... twice
They played well against NYR.
Samsonov was terrible. He's done and everyone knows it.
This time Leafs couldn't score enough goals to compensate to get it into OT for Samsonov to lose it.
There is zero chance he is starting in the playoffs unless Leaf management is on crack.
He's the Jack Campbell of the Leafs

When they beat NYR 7 to 3 who was in net? It wasn't Samsonov
When they beat Pitt 7 to 0 who was in net? It wasn't Samsonov

They should just get rid of Samsonov. Beef up defence. It is disgusting losing 9:3 to Buffalo.

Get rid of Sammy how? Put him on waivers? Trade him for? Move him to the Marlies?
He has a 3.55 million dollar contract, he will never get another chance beyond entry level one year deals.
No team will want his contract unless MLSE pays for it, maybe we can get a 3rd rounder in trade.
I would be surprised if he was picked up on waivers with that contract
We are stuck with him.

Some NHL analysts think he would be picked up on waivers because there are several teams desperate for goaltending. If he turns it around, that would backfire on the Leafs.

The best thing Sammy can do is to pull a Carey Price, declare mental health issues, and be placed on LTIR.

If you’re on the wildcard bubble and you have cap space, and your goaltending sucks worse than Sammy’s.
Edmonton?
Pittsburgh? (this would be funny)
