KFC is not kosher due to the mixing of meat with milk and will never be kosher. . Halal requires a prayer to be done before each slaughter while a general blessing must be done once for the meat to be Kosher. The economics of religion should not be confused with the religion of economics for the greater peculiarity.
Do you think the chicken about to be slaughtered cares about the prayer :ROFLMAO:

He will soon be sliced, marinated with spices and served in a kebab 😷

As a senior that has trouble chewing tough meat including some chicken, I started buying Halal skinless chicken breasts and could not believe how much tender they were and that is the only chicken I buy. Sadly, the only grocery store in my Leaside area that sells it is Metro. I am Canadian born of Ukrainian decent so there is no religion or politics in my choosing Halal. The cost is similar and it the best tasting and most tender chicken whether I grill or bake it. Try it, you will like it.
If there is a Loblaws close by try it, as some do. However, as the batches are small, they do are sold off very quickly, which also assists in the batches being fresher.

I am also very non religious, and as pee my previous post on this topic, buy Yhe halal whenever avaipable.

PS At loblaws the halal is usually cheaper than others .

What I am not ok with is making that the only option available to everyone.
Neither am I. Which is why I don't eat at these places. The problem is that most Halal people will only eat Halal, while most non-Halal people don't give a shit.

So they've made a business decision. It's easier to go all Halal. Those that care will eat it, those that don't will eat it too.

Why not go to chik fil A instead? I'm sure they're not halal, given their whole Christian thing.

This is not political its about respecting the customer. For instance if I go into a Middle Eastern restaurant to order a shawarma it is specifically made clear to me (via a sign or on their menu board) that the meat is Halal. All I'm asking is that the KFC's and Popeye's restaurants do the same.
Are you that much of a snowflake that it matters????

C'mon, man, no offence, but this is full-on Karen behaviour.

Uhhhh, the fact they are catering to one group of people but not others?
Is that okay with you?

So it’s “let’s cater to muslims but screw the Sikh's”
How exactly are the Sikhs screwed by this?

Because they are the same chickens, just killed in a more humane and food safe manner. You are getting a safer meat. And a Muslim holy man is supervising. You want to trust YUM to otherwise buy anything less than the cheapest chicken? Kosher chicken OTOH is salted and it does taste more bland.

I rarely make this accusation, but complaining over this or demanding your own Christian factory processed chicken is either ignorant or Islamophobic. Be grateful for this and hope we never get US Tyson-factory farmed chicken. It's gross.

This is a non-issue. If you don't like Halal chicken, don't eat at KFC. You have the right to boycott them.
If you like Halal chicken, eat at KFC. You have the right to support them. The market will sort out.
+1
Selling Halal chicken is a business decision to get more customers.

I could not tell the difference between halal and non-halal chicken and neither could you.
I've tried Halal chicken, Kosher chicken and regular chicken and can't tell the difference.

Exactly. Heck, probably 90% of the packaged food we eat is certified kosher. Most people don't even realize there is some type of kosher "hescher" (logo) on packaged foods. Companies pay to have Orthodox rabbis inspect their methodology and/or supervise areas of production to ensure kosher standards are being met. Why? It's a business decision: they want to be attractive to religious Jewish clientele because it means more money in their pocket.

They can't eat halal meat.

You're right! I was waiting for someone to come in and call you out on it before offering my understanding.

In Sikhism, it is a specific prohibition to eat meat from an animal that has killed by a cutting the neck without severing it neck, just bleeding out, or killed in the name of any religion.

So... yeah, observant, non-vegetarian/vegan Sikhs who eat at KFC are fucked!

In the Rehat Maryada, Article XXIV - Ceremony of Baptism or Initiation (page 38),[29] it states:
The undermentioned four transgressions (tabooed practices) must be avoided:
  1. Dishonouring the hair
  2. Eating the meat of an animal slaughtered the Halal way
  3. Cohabiting with a person other than one's spouse
  4. Using tobacco.
    — Sikh Rehat Maryada
The Sikh Rehat Maryada states that Sikhs cannot consume meat that is [21] Halal (Muslim), or Kosher (Jewish).[30][31][32]

.'' More than 195,000 kosher products are available to Canadians, and almost one company a week in Canada becomes kosher certified. The kosher market in Canada exceeds that of gluten-free products. The city of Ottawa even held a kosher meat cook-off recently, a first in the country ''

Spinning this once again so it fits your logic. Well done.

Problem is, at the end of the day, you have a company that is catering to one religion over another no matter how you spin it. You know how to avoid this? Serve food with no religious affiliation to it.

Question for you, do you think it's wise given the current political climate in a city like to catering to the Muslims but not the Jewish?

Would sit here and try and convince a Jewish person that they should be find with the fact the place has chosen Halal over Kosher?

Because - unlike you - most potential customers of KFC don't obsessively hate Muslims and don't wish to boycott any retail outlet that accommodates their beliefs.
Come off it Manny.

I want to know the source of the food I eat. There is nothing wrong with that. Now KFC has made it known to the best of their ability, but there is no “hate” in wanting to know where things come from.
Yeah, nothing against Islam or Halal foods but I don't like this growing trend of more and more restaurants offering Halal meat. As a secularist, I don't want to be eating any food with religious affiliations whether Halal or Kosher etc. All for freedom of religion and people being allowed to practice their religion peacefully, but don't want to be forced to eat foods with religious affiliations either.
I think this is reasonable. It is a choice to be non religious just as it is a choice to be religious. If we give freedom to practice religion, we should be given freedom to avoid it as well.

I’m of the believe that religion stays in home and places of worship. Not in public domains or schools or government. This is for ALL religions.

I realize this is not going to happen and have to make choices based on that, like no longer going to KFC if I want ( I don’t eat there anyways), but that is my right.

is he wrong though??? No he is not. They can no longer eat at KFC at all. They have been completely excluded.

Now before you bitch at me too, I don’t care about the meat. I don’t care about the religion but not wanting the meat doesn’t make someone a bigot. Someone not wanting to participate in someone else’s religion does not make a person of bigot. That is the stupidest fucking thing I have heard. So that means that everyone who practises a specific religion is a bigot to somebody else’s religion, even if they agree that everyone should be able to practice their own religion freely. So it makes no sense to be calling somebody a bigot because they don’t want to eat Halal meat.

If they are being insulting to that religion, that is different but simply not wanting to participate in the religion does not make a bigot.

I do care ,not necessarily because the animal is blessed by another religion, but because I want to make sure that the animal that I am eating didn't go through any undue suffering. Islamic practices forbid the animal to be rendered unconscious before it is slaughtered. That is animal cruelty. I am shocked that PETA isn't vigilant in its demonstrations outside Halal slaughterhouses.
