I've seen a few of those rolling around. Makes me do a double take every time I see one because they're so unusual looking.
Unusual, but practical and functional. Not sure if you had a chance, watch the video above or skim through the more reviewed parts of the video. I love this thing.

This guy makes a strong case for them, I had zero clue how versatile they are

Those lightweight pickups are everywhere in Japan and very popular among all kinds of tradesmen. They have yellow license plates to indicate the small engine (660 cc displacement). As you can imagine from those thin tires they are not built for speed, but with the "Kei" designation come cheaper taxes and owning costs.

It would be hard to blend those K trucks and K cars into North American highways. The guy in the video manages to go 100km/h and even says he drives it on the Interstate, but it's probably not very comfortable at that speed, surrounded by others going faster with ease, even if you're constantly hugging the right-most lane. Having said that, as with anything made in Japan it's a very efficient, safe, and reliable type of vehicle on its own.

It's an extremely efficient vehicle and cheap. But of course, only in Japan, where else right? No doubt it's a bumpy ride, but I would think it's designed more for short local trips around the 'hood.
I like it.

They're allowed if they're 15 years old. Your issue in Ontario will be insurance. IF you can find someone to insure it, you're be at facility rates ( $2k/month?).

that said, if you have private property and are looking at a side by side, there are better and cheaper.
