Oh please, are you saying that whites can't struggle in life? Listen, the colour of someone's skin doesn't guarantee anything,an education does,or at least should.

Eminem was working as a dishwasher, where was he going in that job?Head Dish Dog
Sure they can struggle but they have more opportunity...

Head dish dog..lol, The late Wendys owner/founder started in the food bizz as a dishwasher..

I'm not sure what you mean by"they have more opportunities
The discussions of race/advantages have been done to death on this board lately, if you don't know what that statement means, take the blinders off to the real world, or go read some past threads on it.

I've participated in those threads, and I'm far from a racist, so back off.You might want to check my posting history before you open your mouth!

We were talking about Eminem,he doesn't have an education. What I was asking is, "are you implying that uneducated whites" have more opportunities then anyone else without an education??????? To this I say bullshit!
Holy tone it down, never called you a racist

Yes I am implying that uneducated/educated whites have more opportunities, you call it bullshit, I call it MY opinion!

Ok so whats your opinion on the state of rap music, will any of the Kanye's, or JayZ's be around in 20 years, will any of their tunes stand up at that time as classics?

WOW, what does being black have to with anything????? Why didnt you just say how could any kid. Why does colour have to play a part?
Maybe because 96% (not truly verified) of rappers are black, nothing racist about this.

You dont have to be surprised at the staying power of rap music. There is a reason why it is still around. I am glad it is still here. Well, the concious type anyway which is the one I really like.
I am glad it is still around, it gives us diversity. Why don't we just agree that rappers are not musicians (they definitely don't know the diff between a major and a minor), but more like artists. Nothing wrong with that.

I would rather hear what Public Enemy has to say than to have to sit through some metal song
Heavy metal is the worst. If I play it at home all my plants die.

Having said all that I am big fan of computer shit, progressive, trance...

you basically expressed shocked that a black kid with no musical prowess could make it big. That is my issue. Now you are telling me you meant rappers. Are you saying rappers are the only ones without musical prowess in your opinion? lol

Look, I am not fighting for rappers. Unless it is good insightful tunes in the mould of Public Enemy or BDP I just turn the dial. I am not into the bling bling thing.

I however, love deep concious music which is why I listen to the likes Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Marvin Gaye, Public Enemy, John Lennon and the like. If I take a break from that I do listen to 'fun' music but there is a lot of crap out there for sure.

I just find it sad a Public Enemy type of artiste wont be popular today. Close to 80% of hip hop consumers are white and it is they who practically dictate what gets produced(supply and demand) and I am guessing they like whats out there now and would scoff at a concious rapper. Thats where we are at now.

As for their music becoming classics, what makes a classic? If it is based on the number of units sold, then I have to say yes, definately.
Classics not neccesarily units sold..IE Aerosmiths "Dream On" Marley's "Buffalo Soldier" The Clash "London Calling" Marvin Gayes "Whats going On" and Lennons "Imagine"..the list goes on...Do you think in 20 years we will be humming to the lyrics of songs about keeping your bitch in line or Niggaz this niggaz that?..classics are purely to each their own

A question for you, have you forgotten about the Sugar Hill Gang and their hit Rapper's Delight? It broke the top 40 in 1979,based on this statistic rap has been around for 26 yrs. It'll probably make it another 20, don't ya think! :)
No, never forgot about the Sugar Hill Gang, it is a classic imho

No I'm sure there are others that have no prowess, but those others have to learn how to sing to some degree or else they won't get farther than the local Karaoke bar. Not so with rappers, they don't need to sing so they can make it without musical prowess.

And why don't you get off the black kid issue. I explained before that the reason I said black kid is because 96% off rappers are black. I wasn't shocked that a black kid could make it, I was shocked that somebody without musical skill can top a musical chart.

Get it?

Your attitude and opinions are well documented on this board. Now go ahead and find that line in the song lyrics.

you said some black kid. The colour didnt need to injected unless you were trying to make a point. GET IT?

I wouldnt be on the colour issue if it hadnt been made an issue.

Get it?

Now, we have some nut named William Bennett saying all black babies must be aborted in order to lower crime in the USA. I hope you realise what kind of world we live in. The colour thing wont go away unless Willie and Meister stop bringing up colour when expressing shock and disgust.

It is proposed that some nuts (the Feds) in the US want to build a Berlin style wall along the whole border to Mexico. This would significantly cut down on the daily influx of Mexican immigrants and reduce the drain on the public purse.

** are we still discussing music here? **

Anyways, rap happens to be performed by blacks almost exclusively. So sorry if I mentioned black in the context of rap. It's like discussing Chinese restaurants without mentioning the chinese.

And btw, I credit the music blacks played in the early century with the advent of blues, rock and pop music as we know it. The whites were too stiff and conservative to come up with the blue notes.

Now, is that racist too?

look, the argument is over.

You said 'some black kid'. That is a fact. I dont remember saying it was racist(looks like your conscience is bothering you). I merely said it was NOT necessary to mention race!

GET IT?

PS: Yes we are discussing music but apparently race got injected into it by someone.

I just love how a simple thread about, IMHO, a good song, turned into a thread for you all to bicker, be ignorant towards and mock each other, politically incorrect and immature.

*applause*

ENCORE !!! :D

Wish for more love...
