Question(s). Is this a part of the normal route for an unemployed free agent to offer his services to NFL teams? How often is this type of workout arranged, that is for a single player and with all these conditions? Is it routine? If not, why would the NFL make this arrangement in this particular case? Are they just being nice guys and going out of their way to give him a spotlight or did his representatives request this or are they covering their collective ass in case of a lawsuit?

It just seems to me (I have no facts, just my intuition) that if this is a unique occurrence they were attempting to suck him into something that had nothing to do with his best interests.

If he showed up to their practice and they said "Fuck you, Colin. This was just a big joke!", then he could walk the incident into every sports talk show and panel in north America and get a shit load of sympathy. He could portray himself as an honest guy who did all that was asked of him and was mocked and screwed over yet again by the big $ pricks.

But even if the NFL is posturing and has no genuine intent to ever sign this guy to play ever again, wouldn't it have been smart for him to show up for the practice and maybe even fly in a couple of his favourite receivers at his own expense. He'd look like a million bucks for doing that. I'd love him for it and if the league said "Thanks, Kaepernick. But we're really not interested", CK would have 110% of my support from that time on, come hell or high water. And I wouldn't be in a minority either. His stock would soar.

5 - The NFL added in a new clause in the waiver basically saying he could never sue

My understanding is that this was the standard NFL waiver clause saying that he couldn't sue if he was injured on the field. Am I missing something?
