I agree with you 100%. But their response, I once asked them that same question, is you have to prove you didn't receive. I said that's kind of dumb especially if I didn't know I had one sent to me. Their response was; "sorry but that's just the way it is". :eek:

Well, being called for a 3 month murder trial can effectively wreck one's career or business. So I sympathize.

As I said, we are probably close to juries being abolished in Ontario.
I had to be a juror in a 1st degree murder trial. It lasted two weeks.

It was so funny when we walked into the courtroom to deliver our verdict (guilty) to the judge and I caught the eye of the defendant as we were seating ourselves, I gave him a discreet thumbs down sign.

I wouldn't want my freedom to be determined by people too stupid to be able to get out of jury duty
