Biden is mentally unfit, but Trump is even worse. Not only is Trump insane and unhinged, but he is morally bankrupt and incompetent. They should both withdraw. ....

OK, I think Biden's done a far better job than I expected and has been a surprisingly great President, but he did not "cure COVID" - that's just nuts.
Was he in office when the covid pandemic ended?
If the pandemic had continued under his watch he would most certainly be blamed for it. If it ends on his watch he gets the credit. That’s just how it is…I don’t make the rules.

US imports from China down 20% under Biden- largely replaced with imports from Mexico and Canada.
One of the problems is that the 25th amendment is cumbersome and not very well thought out when it comes to the situation of a President who doesn't think they need to be replaced.
Biden appears to be in excellent heath, but as you say, the actuarial tables aren't in his favour and the risks don't increase linearly.
Of course, Trump has the same basic problems, being 77.
I strongly suspect 2028 is going to result in two candidates in their 50s coming out of the primaries.
Butler's point about "generic democrat" winning is misleading.
"Generic democrat" will always do better than "specific democrat" because it isn't a real person.
You can't use those numbers to make an argument like this.

I don't think the backlash would just be "replace her with an identity pick or we get mad", it would be a whole brouhaha about how it shows weakness, disloyalty, there would be infighting and sniping about whoever took the position.
I can't see it going smooth. Biden could probably pull it off if he was vastly more popular and in a position where he could sell it as a power move, but I just don't think that's the situation.
You could read what he actually gave as his reasons for not prosecuting if you wanted, you know.

He's pretty clearly cognitively sound as evidenced by his performance and by numerous accounts and what can be seen in public.
Will he remain so for 5 years?
Impossible to say.
Especially at this age, once something goes wrong it can go very quickly.
