Oh my God I just looked 2.5 games out of a wildcard. Good slip away they’re not good enough to even come to the table. I’m so sick of this 2023 version of these bums. Too stressful to watch. We need Gibby and Bautista to start coaching.

i’m going to Texas at the end of September and I’ll start cheering the Astros or Rangers lol.

I don’t think I know what that is. Is this at the stadium? I can’t get past the street vendors that sell Lamb Gyros all over New York. Extra white sauce and a little spicy. Omg these things are perfection.

Over the years whenever I watched a game televised from Yankee stadium there would be big ads for Utz chips. This pre-dated virtual advertising.

oh, I’ve seen that ad before. I’m quite the foodie, but I don’t know that product.

I think that it's one of those brands that is big because they are a "New York brand", sort of like Poland Spring water.

I remember seeing an episode of Mad Men, which takes place in the early '60s, and Don's advertising firm, which is based in NYC, is working on a promo for Utz. So they've been around.

Genesis Cabrera hasn't allowed a run, earned nor unearned, in his first eighteen appearances for the Blue Jays, (16 1/3 IP). This team record might never be broken.

In the two seasons we had Rogers Clemens pitch here in Toronto I made a point of going to see him live on several occasions. It was just incredible to watch. Even if he didn't have his best stuff he battled like a workhorse and would still toss a complete game. Dude was a beast. Best pitcher to don a Jays uniform. Should be in the HOF without question.

I'm thinking 1st ballot. He was loved and admired by virtually everyone.

Unlike those other aforementioned deplorables, I don't ever recall hearing a negative comment regarding his deeds and especially not his character.
If he doesn't get in first ballot there's something seriously wrong with the system. Over 3000 hits and over 500 SB's with a career .311 BA. And he didn't start his MLB career until he was 27.

Ichiro's Japanese stats were pretty good, too:

As long as he doesn't diss any trans persons on social media or hit a woman in the next year and a half, he's in, first ballot, 95%+ of votes, possibly the second unanimous selection, after Mariano Rivera.

He's not eligible to be inducted until 2025, because he played two games against Oakland in Tokyo at the start of the 2019 season.

My mind must be playing tricks on me, could the adorable Barry Bonds cut it as Mr. Whipple (don't squeeze the Sharmen).

I must not be remembering this right. When he was with the Yankees did Ichiro ever vault over the catcher to score a run? Had he played his entire career in MLB, it's been projected that he would have passed Hank Aaron as thrid with the most hits at 3800+.

sort of like Poland Spring water.
I am drinking a bottle of Poland Spring Water from the case we bought when we checked in…… as I read this lol. Poland Spring Water definitely runs New York. I don’t even think there’s a close second choice. Poland Spring Water is everywhere. Every store, every vendor, even the Yankees drink it in the dugout.

I couldn’t agree with you more! In his two seasons with Toronto, he was nothing short of spectacular. There’s all kinds of loopholes in the story. And regardless of what speculation would suggest, Clemens was never caught. If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.

As I’ve said in this forum before, I could make a short list of those I suspect in the HOF that were users. Clemons has rubbed somebody the wrong way, and he was kept out for so long because he was an asshole. Prior to 1996 he was 100% on nothing. And he was robbed of the Cy Young Award in 1990. He should’ve had 4 prior to 96.

Poland Spring water comes from the town of Poland in Maine. The place is referred to as 'Poland Spring' on their TV Station, the ABC affiliate WMTW-8. It was the only ABC station you could get with 'rabbit ears' antennae from Montreal.

When I was in College, a daily ritual was to get baked in the late afternoon, then watch "Marty on the Mountain" for the Channel 8 local weather. I think he might be Forrest Gump's dad. Sometimes a cat would crawl on him during his segment.

That’s so funny. Without looking it up, I always figured it came from some Polish mafia control over the New York spring water market lol.

I await your review as you are our resident food critic.
oh buddy, it’s ridiculous how much I love to eat. I need to be careful in my 40s. After this trip I’m definitely taking the elliptical very seriously.

I went to Sparks Steak House for a second time. Every time I come to New York every summer I go to this place at least twice. John Gotti/Paul Castalano assassination history. This place is unbelievable. This time instead of always staying in Times Square and Manhattan we actually explored Long Island and I’ve been in Brooklyn. Went to Coney Island yesterday. Oysters and hotdogs all day. Lol.

A little earlier today the Yankees released Josh Donaldson.
Donaldson is currently on the 60 day IL, and isn't eligible to be reinstated before September 14. He has an expiring contract with a 2025 $6 Million buyout that the Yankees will have to eat.

His injury is listed as 'Right Calf Strain'. When he was in his last season with the Jays, he was on the 60 day IL with "Left Calf Tightness".

From baseballrumours(dot)com:

" Releasing Donaldson now might also have been a courtesy to him. If he signs with a new club prior to September 1, he’ll be playoff eligible with that team. Based on his health and performance issues this year, he’ll clear waivers by tomorrow afternoon and then have a day and a half to latch on somewhere else. Once released, the Yanks will be on the hook for the remainder of his salary. Any of the 29 other clubs would be free to sign him for the prorated league minimum, with that amount subtracted from what the Yankees pay."
