Might point exactly.
I was having a conversation with someone, and some young woman who was eavesdropping nearby butted in and said "I'm offended by that.". I looked at her and said "You're not my wife, or my mom, or my boss. I'm not trying to sell you something, I don't want you to vote for me, and I don't want to bang you, so why should I give a rat's ass if YOU are offended? If you don't like what's being said, stop listening in on other people's conversations, or stick your fingers in your ears. Piss off.". She was gone in a flash.

Yeah, Asians are a minority. They're only 40% of the world's population.

The catch-all term "Asian" is used because those same Social Justice Warriors don't want to admit that they can't tell the difference between someone who is Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Viet Namese. Lumping them all into one generic category is respectful, in their opinion.

It's not a matter of me "not liking the culture". You pointed it out yourself. "What's currently happening". What's happening is a fucking joke and society seems to be picking and choosing when it's okay and when it's not okay. Not to mention, it's gotten out of control to a point you can't even have fun. I bet there's no Japanese people out there upset over Morris saying "be very very careful" in a voice that resembled Elmer Fudd more then it did Japanese.

Like I said, nobody is saying fuck all about the Simpsons, but now were up in arms over this???

I remember reading an article about a bunch a feminist who wanted all words with "man" in them changed. Words like "manhole" and "policeman". I remember thinking "what a bunch of over sensitive nut jobs that are wasting their time". I'm starting to now believe this it's a possibility, especially when people like you support this train of thought.
Here's what your missing. It's one thing to have some chuckles w your buds over a couple of beers. It's quite another to say inappropriate shit when you're on TV as the representative of an entity with PR concerns and public responsibilities. You're the "voice of the franchise".

Just like you don't tell dick jokes when you're making a speech at your sister's wedding or when you're talking to the judge in traffic court.

It's a basic "job competence" issue. THAT'S why he got canned.

Here's what your missing, it wasn't really that inappropriate. It's a fine line, and in this case it wasn't crossed.

Had he made some sort of derogatory remark towards Japanese people, or used inappropriate language, that would be one thing, but trying to sound like a Japanese person in a very light hearted way is another. If I try to sound like Fat Bastard from Austin Powers using a Scottish accent at my job, perfectly acceptable in the workplace despite the fact I'm not Scottish.

Guess you and the Detroit Tigers will have to agree to disagree on that one. But I'm sure they respect your right to have your own opinion on the topic.

If you wanted to give Morris a job, you could let him do fake Japanese accents on your TV show. But you don't have one.

Or he could do fake accents on the Simpson’s.

Or maybe the tigers should stop being so anal retentive like the rest of cancel culture.

99.9999% of baseball broadcasters get it. They say the usual generic cliches about hitting hanging curveballs and kids with a lotta upside and gritty at bats. Was Morris "over the line"?!.... Who gaf?! He shouldn't even be in the same universe as "the line". The closest he should get to controversy is saying Vladdy Guerrero isn't hitting change-ups as well as he did 3 weeks ago.

That's his job. That's like me getting reamed by a judge for doing a fake Jamaican accent when I should be making an argument about res judicata. Like wtf was Morris even doing that he should even be in this situation?!

That's why he's suspended. And the Tigers probably think he's generally an asshole because he done shit before maybe in private.

Maybe he is an an asshole in private, and maybe his general performance should have got him suspended or fired but not this incident. I still think his on air apology should have been enough for something we probably would have a hard time trying to find people offended by.

If there was a Scottish person at bat that stuck out, and Morris said something like "he'll have to take a seat" in a Scottish accent, I promise you nobody would have batted an eye about it.

They’re all referred to as Asians because all of those countries are in Asia.

It would still have sounded stupid.

I'm fine w Morris just apologizing on air, or even just coming back after a 2-week absence. But they're not there to be "funny". It's unprofessional.

Again, the merits or lack thereof of this "not offending anyone culture" is irrelevant. It is here. It is a current trend. You can point out as many hypocrisies as you like. It does not change the fact that this is what is happening in current western society.

Even though you don't like it, you are aware of its' existence. As somebody in the public eye, working for a company in the public eye and broadcasting to hundreds of thousands of people, Jack Morris should have also been aware of its' existence.

The fact that he failed to take this into account during the broadcast was stupid. That is the only point I am making. He did not consider what the public reaction may be even if it is a "fucking joke".

No, the Jack Morris incident is not example. I bet no Japanese people found this offensive including Ohtani. Heck, I bet even a few of them probably had a giggle about it, but now Jack Morris is suspended because the ridiculousness of people taking shit to far and way to serious.
You're a fool to think this.

Your post is the statement of a simple minded, racist and pitiful fool. You wish the world would conform to your way of thought but it doesn't work like that.

This is your world...

Isn't making the world conform to their way of thought exactly what the overly sensitive demographic is trying to do?

Does the "overly sensative" or "underly sensative" have an issue comprehending this point:

The racist element is HUGE on Terb. This is simple enough.

I just think if you are in the public, you need to be extra careful. Its your job to be extra careful and know whats going on. I understand people make mistakes don't get me wrong, but you need to be better than that and make a conscious effort to be extra cautious. Its the world we live in now. Change with the times.

Its 2021. If you think mocking a professional athlete for his ethnicity is what a sports broadcaster is paid to do, then I got nothing for yeah.

He should have been fired. There are plenty of people capable of broadcasting a ball game.
