you guys crack me up, the short man’s complex at a national level. And your wealth inequality in comparison, along with the attitudes that cause it, are resulting in the breakdown of your civil society.
You also lead in mass shootings, medical bankruptcy, infant mortality rates for western nations. Your life expectancy is dropping, there are bubbles in the stock market, real estate. Your farmers are failing.
And would you like to discuss the crass corruption at all levels of your own governments?
It's a house of cards.
Uh huh......you can't even keep your own govt open.....you guys crack me up, the short man’s complex at a national level.

You just keep telling yourself that.you guys crack me up, the short man’s complex at a national level.
He floated caving and got soundly rejected. I agree he is a coward. But he is only one vote and on the way out imo.Thats just Chuck cosplaying tough because he’s worried about his left flank. AOC could easily take him out in a Senate primary. It’s much ado about nothing, House passed a clean CR weeks ago, it’s just a matter of time. View attachment 491277
You seem to read a lot into a now normal budget negotiation tactic in the U.S.. Canada and parliamentary systems generally have an easier time establishing a budget. One look at France and we know that's not guaranteed. When operating well, parliamentary systems unify the executive and the legislature. He floated caving and got soundly rejected. The Republicans are threatening layoffs, lack of funding etc. So what? It's what they are already doing. Let them own the hospital shutdowns and new insurance premiums in their districts.
Last longest shutdown, and who caved?......look it up
Of course there will be an eventually resolution. The question is how it comes about. My point stands. Trump threatened job cuts, program cuts over the shutdown. So what? They are doing that no matter what. So demanding reinstated healthcare policy is a good place to negotiate from. And standing ground a good idea. Probably the first sign of life from them. You seem to read a lot into a now normal budget negotiation tactic in the U.S.. onthebottom is right. Sadly, this shutdown is so the Democratic kids can earn some street cred with the progressive left kids. Schumer in particular needs this cred to defend his seat from AOC.
What likely will happen is Republicans will offer some modest concessions and some moderate Democratic Senators will vote for the budget resolution getting to the necessary 60 votes. Schumer and other Democratic Senators representing progressive states will stand there ground in what will be mostly a symbolic gesture.
It's likely that all this won't have any lasting impact on the November midterms. However, primaries come much earlier in the year. Schumer and others can say on the primary campaign trail that they fought Trump.
Oddly this gives the executive branch more control as the congressional appropriations are not passed. In 2025 the federal government will be down 300,000 employees on 2,000,000. 15% is a good start, Trumps cabinet will be able to find more, they have the DOGE work.He floated caving and got soundly rejected. It's not odd. It's what the GOP wants. They wanted this shutdown.Oddly this gives the executive branch more control as the congressional appropriations are not passed.
