Our government will have to be closed too if Carney is to
put a lid on rising deficit and debt. Fortunately our leaders
have no use for such thing as debt ceiling.They are free
to carry on deficit spending to fiscal collapse. At least
the U.S. can still print their own currencies which a good
part of the world still uses.

The Republicans are threatening layoffs, lack of funding etc. So what? It's what they are already doing. Let them own the hospital shutdowns and new insurance premiums in their districts.

You seem to read a lot into a now normal budget negotiation tactic in the U.S.. Canada and parliamentary systems generally have an easier time establishing a budget. One look at France and we know that's not guaranteed. When operating well, parliamentary systems unify the executive and the legislature.
onthebottom is right. Sadly, this shutdown is so the Democratic kids can earn some street cred with the progressive left kids. Schumer in particular needs this cred to defend his seat from AOC.
What likely will happen is Republicans will offer some modest concessions and some moderate Democratic Senators will vote for the budget resolution getting to the necessary 60 votes. Schumer and other Democratic Senators representing progressive states will stand there ground in what will be mostly a symbolic gesture.
It's likely that all this won't have any lasting impact on the November midterms. However, primaries come much earlier in the year. Schumer and others can say on the primary campaign trail that they fought Trump.
Of course there will be an eventually resolution. The question is how it comes about. My point stands. Trump threatened job cuts, program cuts over the shutdown. So what? They are doing that no matter what. So demanding reinstated healthcare policy is a good place to negotiate from. And standing ground a good idea. Probably the first sign of life from them.
I think Schumer may be done. We shall see if the donors or the grassroots win this one.
Oddly this gives the executive branch more control as the congressional appropriations are not passed. In 2025 the federal government will be down 300,000 employees on 2,000,000. 15% is a good start, Trumps cabinet will be able to find more, they have the DOGE work.
Project 2025 has always been the goal.
