not on that "floater" of a shot by Dumont for the O.T. winner.

He earned the right to let that in. Lol.

Alfreddson should not be a Captain....but he is a great player....he lacks the cutthroat charecter that you need to be a Captain at this time of year.

Spezza likewise......great player, shitty leader.

They have NO leaders on that team, that is the problem. They will lose a bunch of guys this year (Chara, Redden as examples) to free agency, so this is (was ) it for them for a real shot at a cup.

BoooHooo.....all I want now is to see Chris Neil whine like the baby he is afterward......
Exactly, the Sens lack that player in the room with a big heart that will hold everyone else accountable. Leafs management sucks, but at least they knew the importance of this and went out and got guys like Roberts and Nieuwendyk for the team. Ottawa, with this now being the 6th year of playoff fultility, have never done anything to address this.

Yet in the regular season the players walk with a swagger and talk like they are the best team in the league and will waltz over their competition when the playoffs come....

The goal wasn't the greatest shot in the world, but Emery made about 3 big stops in the second half of the 3rd period to keep Ottawa in it. The problem isn't goaltending. Emery has been decent overall, its just that Miller has been on the top of his game and the Ottawa star player, with the exception of Havlat, aren't trying to make anything happen to break that trend.

I go to 20 or so Sabre games per year..........Go Sabres Go!!

I am glad the Sabres are doing well. Their fans are great and the team is playing with heart......come to think of it, those are the two things the Senators are missing.

The so called Sens fans aren't really Sens fans...they are Leaf haters..:p

What's your thought? All other Sens fans have vanished.
I think that Ottawa and Buffalo are very evenly matched. The fact that they're first and fourth seeds is just a result of the NHL's wacky seeding scheme. They were only separated by 3 points in the regular season.

Yeah, the Sens have been right in there. And they've lost by a collective 3 goals in 3 games. Choke? Don't think so. Upset if Buffalo wins? Not really, but I will be.

Emery has done well. He hasn't let any real weak goals in (that I've seen). Miller is playing fantastic. Some of the Ottawa players aren't playing up to snuff, and the team as a whole is trying to be too pretty and fancy. Buffalo is playing a wide-open storm the net, to hell with the consequences playoff hockey. And I can respect that.

If the Sens are eliminated by the Sabres this year, I can honestly say they lost to a decent opponent. As opposed to the Leafs. Again.

And you are looking particularly ravishing today, Kathleen. Do you want to fark?

He was screened on that shot, so he had no chance to even see it, also it was like a knuckleball in baseball , and those types of shots are so hard to read.

Even though the Sens won last night....

Buffalo is just too fast for them..that is the biggest difference.

The Sabres are on Chara and Redden before they can even think about moving the puck out of their zone.

Emery has been standing on his head and the Sens are not playing as a team. Each player seems to be trying to win the game by himself.

They (Sens) are frustrated.

I agree, A-Rod.

Last night's game was painful to watch. Turnovers, shitty passes, sloppy single-handed attempts to score. Heart-stopping chances up to the final 20 seconds.

AUGH!

But if anyone wants to call the Sens chokers, I would invite them to suck my left testicle. They came into a high-pressure game in a hostile arena and played much better (however, not as good as they could).

If anyone wants to blame Emery if they ultimately lose the series, I would invite them to suck my right testicle. What with being a rookie and the spectre of Dominik Hasek looming over his shoulder, he still pulled off a stunning display last night especially. The media needs to STFU about Hasek. I agree with Don Cherry, when Bobby Orr was injured, you didn't see Bobby Orr.

If anyone expected the "mighty Sens" to sweep the "underdog Sabres", I would invite them to take a slurp of my salami. They were separated by 3 points in the regular season. Two of the four games went into OT. The series could as easily be tied as it is 3-1. They are as evenly matched as any two teams could be with speed and skill. Anyone who said Ottawa would walk all over Buffalo does not know hockey, or is just speaking out their asses.

That said, the Sens are going home for a Saturday night game. They've got the momentum, and a couple of days to work on their problem areas. If they win the next game, it's suddenly 3-2 and Buffalo will be back on their heels.

If they pull out a series victory here (and I'm not saying they will, but they could), the giant "choker" monkey will be off their back. If they don't, I think that last night's game shows that they do have some heart left.

The mighty Senators do not become the first seed in the Eastern Conference out of no reason. They are a formidable team with superior offensive and defensive power. As the good doc said earlier in another thread, in order for the young and inexperienced Sabres to win, they have to master three things, namely great team work, goaltending, and the intangibles which I summarily called ‘the force’.

For game four, the desperate Senators seemingly responded to ferocious criticisms, which woke them up. They came out to fight tooth and nail. But the young Sabres, especially in the first period, lost their focus and determination. They were tentative and slowed to respond. They let the mighty Senators get the upper hand early on. If the Sabres would play the entire game like they did in period two, the outcome probably would have been very different. So in many ways, the Sabres lost game four because they did not tried as hard as they could.

From now on, every game is a must win game for the mighty Senators. For the Sabres, they will focus to win one more game, starting with game five. The Senators gain back some life and momentum. They will again fight tooth and nail to stay alive. If the Senators can win this series by winning the remaining three consecutive games, they deserved all the praises in the world. Now we have to see what the Sabres are made of. May ‘the force’ be with the Sabres. :)

This continues the pattern of Bryan Murray`s coaching career: great regular season and lousy playoffs. If that was the problem for Ottawa before, why did they hire him of all people?

I hate the Senators, but I felt bad for Emery who did the best he was capable of.

Dany Heatley was completely useless.

Emery has played ok. But a healthy Hasek could have given the Sens an edge in this series where 1 goal made a difference in all the games. Emery played solid but Hasek can nearly single handedly win a game. He has an aura about him that gives teammates confidence and gets into the heads of opponents. Emery has neither of that.

Emery didn't lose it for the Sens. But Hasek could have won it.

I loved seeing the Sens fans go on the verge of suicide because their team sucks goat testicles. Cup pretenders every year! And to think the Sens thought this was "their year" and were so happy not to play the Leafs in the playoffs this year.

Doesn't matter who the Sens play, they will choke every year as long as Krusty the clown is their captain and as long as their fans keep running their mouths.

I still don't know what irritates me more, the actual team, or their annoying stupid, geeky, drunk fans. I guess it doesn't matter now.

The team motto for the Senators is "maybe next year" because every spring, that is what they all say.

So to Ottawa: Wear that Ray Emery jersey with pride! John Muckler's facial reaction alone belongs in the hockey hall of fame! And hey - MAYBE NEXT YEAR! HAHAHAHA

Bottom line is the Sens have no leadership / heart.

They were out-hustled by a smaller team with less talent.

I believe the difference in this series was Chris Drury.. he showed leadership and the type of work ethic it takes to win in the playoffs.

The biggest mistake the Sens made was not picking up a player like a Gary Roberts. They tried to entice him in the off season but didn't offer the bucks needed.

The Sens have averaged 104 points in the last 7 regular seasons and all they have to show for it is getting to the third round once, losing in the second round twice and being eliminated in the first round 4 times.

They need a leader!!!
