You are quoting an article from a far-left source that gets millions of dollars of taxpayers money from the Liberal government, I would take that with a grain of salt. Now that Carney is in the lead, they are going back to Trudeau's mass immigration policy. You used a typical Communist ploy, I am not attacking immigrants. Just saying that uncontrolled immigration = rapid population increase and that has very negative consequences. See look at Germany, they had mass immigration for a long time and they got a housing crisis and so does Australia. All places that had uncontrolled immigration ended up causing great wealth inequality. As for construction workers, here again Trudeau brought in anybody to this country in his desperation to increase the population. Lots of low skilled workers, temporary workers, students, and asylum seekers (this is the worst type of immigrant as most are leechers, they get way too many social benefits and taxpayers get the bill. I hear many hotels in Niagara Falls has been taken by the Federal government to house asylum seekers. I am not saying all are bad, but the majority are fake asylum seekers looking to get the freebies). Do you really think any of these people will work in construction?? Toronto's present unemployment rate is 8.7%? How can there be a shortage of workers? That is lies the Federal government is telling people to justify their mass immigration policy. Look, it is does not get simpler then this, you got the most elementary law of economics, the law of supply and demand. When demand exceeds supply, prices go up.

Now on to your other point, the 1950s saw a population boom also but there were much better able to deal with it. Why? Back then there were much less taxes and regulations. Today there are so much politics, NIMBY, taxes, and regulations. Today in Toronto, about 1/3 of the cost of homes is all taxes, fees, levies, studies, etc.. And all three levels of governments are responsible, but the Federal government is 100% responsible for piling so many people into the country in such a short time. If all these charges were removed along with removing all the regulations, the rents would go down by 1/3 plus more investors would be interested to build multi-family apartments. Currently we are stuck in a population trap. Mass immigration, cost of living going up, less kids being born, more mass immigration, cost of living going up, and so on. With these two things, mass immigration with housing construction not fast enough, what we have is a situation where demand far exceeds supply which is why we got very high prices. Somewhere the cycle has to stop and the fast solution is to cut immigration for a while and let housing balance itself out with demand then we can resume immigration. But there is a difference between responsible immigration and uncontrolled immigration. The Federal government's job is to secure the borders, it is their job to ensure immigration is done in a responsible way. Another consequence of mass immigration is the healthcare crisis. Many people are waiting very long to see a doctor, this is a consequence of rapid population increase. We do not need more people, we got too many already. The GTA is at 7.5 million people, that is way too much.
CBC is not far left, its about as close to mainstream canadian views as any news source in the country. Almost every other media here is american right wing owned.

Look, I agree that there was too much immigration for a few years under Trudeau, but that was due to 2 demands, one from Canadian businesses looking for cheap, essentially indentured, labour through Temporary Foreign Workers. The most visible of those just requires a trip to Timmies or an order from Uber eats. The second was due to provincial cuts to higher education, which forced universities to go after international students for their higher tuition to subsidize Canadian students.

Universities are screwed right now, and nobody is coming in to fix them.
Timmies deserves to be screwed, and the TFW program needs to be redone to target actual industry needs like construction, instead of the service industry using to get workers for less than minimum wage.

Our borders are secure enough unless the fuckwad down south isn't turfed from office in the next few months.

I do not know about that, Liberal government provides them with millions of dollars in subsidies. Would you go against the guy that pays your paychecks?

This is a consequence of Trudeau's uncontrolled immigration policy. Look up the Century Initiative, that is their goal. It is a corporate lobby group, it gets its donations from investors and corporations. Their goal is to have 100 million people by 2100. We got 75 years, I did a rough estimate and they would need to bring in 780,000 people every year to reach that goal. What I see is their obsession with never ending GDP growth. Trudeau said many times they want to grow the economy. But at what expense? Larger GDP means that they got more influence on the international stage, it means they got more power to make decisions and control especially with the other countries. They are more concerned with what happens in the globe vs what happens in Canada. But the real measure of prosperity is GDP per capita. This figure indicates how much money is flowing per person, that figure has been going down for a while. So they grow the economy by increasing the amount of people in the country even though the share of wealth per person goes down.

Canada's problem is declining productivity. That is the real issue and is why wages are stagnant. The housing crisis is a consequence of uncontrolled immigration. Unions do not help, but increased productivity will make people prosper. Productivity means the amount of profits made with the hours worked. That figure has went down while USA's productivity has went up. Canada's productivity is down due to lack of investment. That reason is due to Liberal policies. High taxes, carbon taxes, cap and trade, excessive regulations, interprovincial trade barriers, etc.. Businesses are less interested to invest in Canada. Instead they gather resources and export it to say the USA where they produce a more valuable product. Oil is a perfect example, the Trudeau Liberals refused to build pipelines to export our LNG to other countries. Instead our only customer is the USA and because of that they get the oil at a low price. The USA uses that oil to produce many products of great value. Take a look, how many things does Canada actually produce? Look at the stores, almost everything is USA companies. A lot of things are tied to fossil fuels. And finally, uncontrolled immigration. They are bringing anyone the worst being asylum seekers that do nothing for Canada. For every engineer and doctor that leaves Canada, we get 200 Uber drivers. They are bringing in way too many low skilled workers and they come here to get the social benefits. Canada struggles with large scale industrial projects taking more time and costing more then other OECD countries. It will take a decade to improve the cost of living in Canada. Carney is not one to do that. He is for the Davos agenda. He knows what he is doing. He did not leave the private sector where he was making millions of dollars to do Canada some service, he came to make the big bucks. All politicians who left politics greatly increased their earning potential.

Universities are screwed right now, and nobody is coming in to fix them.

I got no sympathy for universities. They just want to make money and international students are a big cash flow for them. They bring them in and they pay tons of money for courses that do not necessarily have any market value then end up working as Uber drivers. The market is so over flooded with engineers and pharmacists among many other fields and often the new grads struggle to find jobs and the salaries drop.[/QUOTE]

Apparently not enough, they are advertising on social media to smuggle people in the USA illegally, mostly Indians.

CBC stays the same through conservative and liberal governments. If you have issues you can email the ombudsman.
The rest of media in Canada is largely Postmedia, american owned by a right winger.

You prefer to be told what to think by americans?

End state capitalism is a ponzi scheme.
Feel free to argue for a declining population and the killing of pensions.

Killing education has been a long term, right wing goal. Educated voters question their policies too much.
