Courtice is quite a distance from Whitby. He was on the Highway for around 20 minutes. In the meanwhile they could have informed the helicopter department as well the various regional police stations.
Not saying they couldn’t. But getting all the exit covered with a police car is stretching it into movie/TV territory. At least be realistic. This is more realistic then what you said originally

What a bunch of morons, both sides.

The one who started going the wrong way and the "professionally trained" ones that decided the void in the ego was so big it needed to be filled over the shoplifting of some alcohol.

Had a cop not been there this would have been another LCBO robbery/shoplift we would have otherwise never heard about.

Did the police overreact? In my opinion yes. There was no need to turn this into a wild car chase that covered many kilometers through busy areas from Bowmanville to Oshawa. Trained officers should have realized this and either let it go, or pretend to lose him and track it via the air. If they were not chasing the guy, he would not have had the need to try and lose them by going the wrong way on the 401.

DRP did not act in the right and safe manner and instead put the public in danger, which resulted in the death of three innocent people. That is directly on them and they should be made accountable for several ill advised decisions.

Apparently there was an off duty DRP in the LCBO at the time who confronted the robber/robbers? The robber pulled a knife on the off duty cop who probably had already identified themselves as one. If it wasn't for that I speculate there wouldn't have been such a heavy and aggressive police response.

They probably wanted to arrest the suspect and put the beats on the perp for pulling a knife on their buddy-robbing the LCBO a distant second.

Pending the SIU investigation I suspect they will find all those DRP assholes at fault for continuing the pursuit once the perp entered the 401 going the wrong way and the family who lost their parents and child sue the fuck out of them. The transport driver who hit the perp head on should sue them for millions as well.
Wouldn't it have been nice if the SIU had of done their job back during the Freedom Convoy days and charged the cops in Ottawa that were physically beating up 80 year old men, pushing older lady to the ground with their walkers, stomping on people with their horses instead of the SIU having their heads up Trudeau's rear end ignoring the problems the SIU is mandated to investigate. But then I guess those that oppose government wannabe dictators aren't covered by the SIU Mandate

A DRP sergeant called off the chase. The question now, is why did 5 or 6 officers continue to chase the perp...

The passenger in the van is in critical condition and is not expected to live.

Edit: He's dead too.

Edit: He's alive again.

The parents of the infant who died along with the grandparents were also in the vehicle, but survived. The grandparents were visiting from India. Makes me wonder, where the grandparents and infant were seated.

Because they wanted to beat the shit out of him-perhaps kill him. Certain cops are pissed about the ruling of the cop that was killed on duty at Nathan Phillips and in their mind are going to administer justice on their own going forward instead of the courts.

Yes and then boasting about putting boots to the protesters, too. But they let the Palestinians run rampant in the streets and terrorize Jewish businesses ...

The threat to public safety by continuing the chase far outweighed the possible risks of allowing the suspects to get away at that time. 3 innocent lives gone, for what, because cops needed to "get their man"?

It certainly appears that Doug has learned his lesson for loudly, blindly and unjustifiably condemning Zameer to the gallows.

Not a peep now.

3 to 6 cruisers cop cruisers, 3- 6 cops going hellbent the wrong way on the 401.

More than just something is horribly askew with policing in Ontario, yet Doug is 1000% behind them.

So a newspaper article stated that this 21 year old, I won’t mention his name but he might be an international student? Was out on bail now, if these judges don’t grow a set it will be a revolving door policy. It stated that he is facing $305,000 charge and another robbery in Oakville must be for that. I think society should be able to sue judges for incompetence, I know that won’t happen I’m on Crown Royal wishful thinking I hope

Trying to score political partisan points on a tragedy like this? Pretty low.

Something's rotten in the State of Policing in Ontario and it's Doug the faux folksy politician, not I the simple folk, that stirs the pot of blind populist partisanship regarding the reeking hulk of police culture.
